Enough with the
stupidity and sectarian nonsense that's buried a long time ago, as the first and
second elimination rounds has a possible showdown, between two one of a kind
foes.
This are the Linfield
Blues from North Ireland versus Celtic Glasgow from Scotland, these will headline
a possible second round showdown, many see as a trouble one.
Today I read from a
well-known tabloid from England, making a mention of the upcoming match between
the Blues and Hoops currently seeded in the second round and with the
flamboyant champions of North Ireland Premiership the Blues.
For sure, the
Linfield Boys will make a repass of their foes in the first round, when they
play San Marino side SP La Fiorita, which the Blues will not have a problem of
making their case and advance towards the next round.
Here we have the
likes of Celtic a club that many associate with a Catholic background versus a
Protestant one in the Linfield club, as you recall whenever the Old Firm
Derbies the passion and the show of force by Celtic backers at their Park.
As the battle of
Boyne where William of Orange won on July 12, 1690, unfortunately this date
will be celebrated one of the legs of this match if these two were to play
against each other.
This is a lousy boiling
point in the history of both countries and a reason for the start of sectarian violence leading
to nonsense and no good as well a nightmare for security forces covering
these matches.
This is a game and
the reunification by a single ball will be a point of a peaceful advancement
towards a better tomorrow filled with prosperity and not hatred, lets bury this
stupid hatchet.
Let us make this match it into a
merry one and with a one of a kind experience filled with laughter and peaceful
celebrations; it is just a game people, just a celebration of competition and
nothing more.
The real spirit of football and its competition.
The real spirit of football and its competition.
Very well the
like for both clubs and a confrontation outside the pitch between the followers
will be just stupid, irrational were not animals, and let us forget that
horrible past that did not drive us anywhere.
If this was to happen
and these two teams had a face off, let them worry about their next phase as both are one resilient and
battling elevens looking forward to make a stand and reach the coveted group
stage.
Still the Celtic Boys
with Brendan Rodgers a North Irishman will have another major challenge in his
career and facing his compatriots will be a tough challenge after these coming
from an amazing treble of a campaign.
However, keep one
thing in mind, that there is no such thing than an easy foe and the battling
and perseverance filled Blues are a one of kind fighting machine and the proof by the
way they won the shield of the NIFL.
So speaking about the
sport this will be a one contested series between both squads, and hopefully
the specter of violence does not make its appearance in the field and especially
the stands, lets be civil and a perform good show of sportsmanship.
As the words of John
Lennon use to state, “Let’s Give Peace a Chance”.
