Nothing comes easy
for the Republic of Ireland, when it comes for the World Cup qualifiers, after
netting an important draw at home over a resilient and daring Austrian National
Team.
As the visitor’s early
jump in the scoreboard via a nice goal that the Republic of Ireland keeper
Darren Randolph, despite his extra efforts he tried to stop, the volley sent by
FC Ausgburg man Martin Hinteregger gave his squad a reason to dream.
Yes, with a nice play
put in practice by the Boys Team in the 31 minute when a corner kick by David
Alaba’s that Sebastian Prodl disguised it so the defender push the ball for the
early lead and goal in the match to a stunned Aviva Stadium.
For the Boys in Green
their response came in the 85 minute when Robbie Brady long punt was taking in
advantage by captain Walters and evading his marker in Aleksandar Dragovic became
at the end the hero with a nice shoot.
Still the likes of Darren
Randolph came out shining with a nice play that prevented in what could been
the go ahead and game winning goal for the Austrians, when he stopped a shoot from
substitute Florian Grillitsch.
Despite the visitors
pushes, the Boys in Green did not stopped on their intention to tie and
possibly won the match, but luck persisted for Marcel Koller squad but his Boys
came short too to deliver a valuable win.
So far the competition
in Group D after this match- the Green Army is dead even in the top with the
Serbian National squad with 12 points for each squad but the Boys from the Balkans
have the edge by goal differential.
Returning to the
match that for many favored the Republic of Ireland squad after their in back
in November win at home and this time they would see the tables turned against
them, if the heroics of Stoke City forward Jonathan Walters would not happen.
One thing this match
proved to be important for the Republic of Ireland Boss, a match sort of a wakeup
call to be alert and not drop their guards in their upcoming matches if these want
to make the trip to Mother Russia in 2018.
So far, the Green
Army for now will have to wait for September when their next set of matches considered
vital if not important if they would like to break their World Cup drought
after not participating in the three previous ones.
Come September 2,
their next match against a not so strong Georgia National team at Tbilisi, after
today’s match in Aviva, O’ Neill’s bunch, will be ready for anything.
Very well prepare themselves
to a match at home in September 5, with a strong and battling Serbia, a match
considered crucial for the Greens in their quest of making it into the promised
land and making history under the O' Neill and Keane era at the helm.
If the miracle
happens, this will be a first for the Republic of Ireland to qualify to world class
tournaments after their amazing performance in the past Euro and now they are
on the verge to advance towards the grand fete of football.
The road to Russia is
paved with many obstacles, after Serbia in October the deciding matches for the
Republic of Ireland against Moldova and at Wales, with this last one considered
of an utmost importance.
At the end luck became
a great companion for both squads that did not saw their fortunes dwindle and
this match finalize with both sharing a point for their cause, no spoiler
today at Dublin.
