Cork City title aspirations dent again by a streaking Bohemian side

Bohemians 4, Cork City 2
Dalymont Stadium, Dublin

Once again, in Phibsborough the local Bohemians add their sixth league win and playing the infamous role of spoilers to the defending champions Cork City seeing their title aspirations taking a twist for the worst.

With a partial return to activities in the league of Ireland, the Leesiders of John Caulfield paid a visit to a high streaking Gypsies at home in Dalymont Stadium  were these a somehow hard to beat at home.

In what seemed a very entertaining and disputed match between the Bohs and City, despite the label of favorites these came to this match, the need of netting a win for the visitors, in the end became a total nightmare and netting their second defeat in a consecutive form.

Suddenly for Keith long side closing the campaign on a strong note with his Boys is becoming one of the league many headliners, as next week match at home for the Leesiders will be at home but against the league leaders Dundalk.

A win for the Lilywhites these will be nearing the league shield with a nine-point lead, so for Cork City is a must to net wins if these would like to make it as an all-around contest in the final matches left in the SSE League of Ireland.

As they state it is not over until tis over and for this edition we are looking forward to an exciting and much disputed final in the end so let us ready ourselves to see what will the outcome in the end.

Anyway returning to tonight’s match in the capital, the local Bohs delivered and dominated from the get go and with manager Caulfield making some changes after that Sligo loss.

This time taking the field were Jimmy Keohane, Peter Cherrie and Steven Beattie replacing the likes of Garry Buckley, Johnny Dunleavy and Mark McNulty, with this moves the hopes of netting a positive result were within Cork City manager ideals.

For this match manager Long strategies worked and put in evidence his squad capabilities of being not in this edition but in next campaign make a run to the top three spots with a detail or two, we may have a total contender of these Gypsies.

By exercising a total pressure on the defending champions from the first half, the formal work for Long and company seeing his side efforts paying off with an own goal play scored in the 10’ minute by  City defender Damien Delaney.

With a suppose pass to his goalkeeper whom he has way out of his posts, for starting keeper Peter Cherrie in the end became impossible to stop the ball that ended up behind the line for the dismay of City eleven.

As the first, half became the highlight of the locals when Daniel Kelly scored the second goal in the 22’ and 30’ minutes accompanied in the end by Derek Pender who got a nice pass from Damien Devaney to make it 4-1 in the 46’ going into halftime.

For Cork City in the first half these score via Graham Cummins in the 36’ and in the second half with a goal by Jimmy Keohanne 57’ minute, just two goals the defending champions managed to get through the posts of Shane Supple.

As the Bohemians defensive backfield step up for the occasion and stopped the initiative and rally the visitors tried to impose on them and just managing to score just a couple of goals in the end and rising with a notable win in a perfect run for the Dubliners.
