North Ireland 1, Bosnia and Herzegovina 2
Windsor Stadium, Belfast
The name of the game is domination and that is the perfect recipe to win, as the Boys from North Ireland obviously had the right moves and looking forward to earn a win over a battling Bosnia and Herzegovina. Unfortunately, errors not forgiven and hence that is the game differential!
As both Irelands squads not lucky in their international compromises now, they are looking forward to their managers in their upcoming friendlies to make the necessary corrections.
With a sold out Belfast colossus in Windsor Stadium, the Norn Iron had all the right moves in netting a win, as the possession and control of the whole match was seen by a dominating local Green and White Army.
As the agony of defeat by the locals was the achievement by a persistent Bosnian squad, that never gave up on their quest to perform and in the end got the thrill of victory and what seemed a very valuable result on the road.
Getting our attention back to this match, the tale of the tape gives a clear advantage to the Norn Iron side with 68% possession over the Balkan squad that just posted a mere 32% in the end but got the right breaks and results speak aloud.
For the Green and White Army, in the course of the whole match had their opportunities towards the posts defended zealously by Ibrahim Sehic and posting a wasteful 26 shoots at goals with eight direct tries, ask that to a discouraged Stuart Dallas.
As the Golden Lilies goalkeeper Sehic posted seven saves in the course of the match versus just a lone one by the local’s counterpart that today, the Dragons made him look like an all-around rookie in the course of the match.
The first play of the match started in the left side of North Ireland territory as Edin Dzeko passing inside the area to a well-placed and opportune Haris Duljevic in the 36’ minute, opening the score the scoreboard to the dismay of thousands of the Norn iron followers.
Despite early tries by the Northern, side to open up the score with narrow escapes to goal with Jonny Evans even trying his luck, this something that manager O’ Neill for sure in the next training session will have to correct.
As in the second half, the Boys from the North persistently tried their luck with Stuart Dallas going at it in a clear play saved by Sehic and later Kyle Lafferty again making a try and no luck, as the Norn Iron came short in all of its intents to score.
However, for the Bosnian these had all the right moves and fortunes in a twist when Craig Cathcart tried to pass back to keeper Bailey Peacock- Farrell, when a nifty Elvis Saric took advantage of the Northern side bobo.
By showing his wit and nose for a scoring opportunity, the put the second goal under the feet of the Norn Iron keeper to score the go ahead and final goal on the 64’ minute to deliver a frustrating and upsetting loss to Northern Ireland.
In the ending minutes defender Craig Cathcart on injury time scored the honor goals taking was the clean sheet from the Bosnians but this goal came too little too late in the end.
