For a team almost packing up its backs and heading south to the Lone Star state, suddenly a group of saviors got a hold of this amazing squad as the Edwards and Haslam Families were the ones to keep the Crew put in Columbus.
For the new investors these did not hesitated to bring a whiz to take over as President of this club, in Tim Betzbatchenko a proven winner that made of the TFC a powerhouse and this club winning a number of shields up north.

Now he has a new challenge but already he has made his move with appointing Caleb Porter as the Black and Gold manager and shaping up this squad to be an all-around contender and winner.
By making Caleb Porter the ninth manager of the Crew history, Tim Betzbatchenko knows he has a proven winner and he will build around his new man in the helm a winner and a serious contender for the league title.

The arrival of newcomers to these parts of the Midwest are midfielder Robinho Barbosa from Brazilian side Ceara, trading for goalkeeper Joe Bendik from Orlando and the return of defender Waylon Francis to Columbus in a trade with Seattle.
Adding to their roster a HG in Aboubacar Keita as well giving their super draft pick JJ Williams a spot in the big team and so far he is proving himself worthy of a spot by the way his performances are speaking of him highly in the team preseason.

For manager Porter so far the preseason grades is looking forward to see a total continuity in seeing a solid defense as well seeing a high productivity from its wingers and its attacking game step up for the better.

Prediction: the Columbus Crew for sure will have a decent campaign and finish in the top four spots and making the postseason with a little luck these can be in the finals of the Eastern Conference.
