No second best for the Philadelphia Union for this campaign, but in the eyes of manager Jim Curtin he is looking forward to a notable 2019. Still for the fifth year man in the helm of the U, he is business as usual.
This is serious business for manager Curtin, as he prepares his U to be an all-around contender. This comes in the wake of his side always making headlines in the US Open Cup three times by making this event as runners-ups.
The heat is on for Jim Curtin, not only looking forward of making it into the postseason but also finishing it with their heads high. Still the way this squad has been busy at work with its top directives in forming a total contender, looking for a stellar campaign.
As the only time this club has been noteworthy in the postseason and making a decorous finish in 2011 when they reached the conference semifinals. After that, the club has not been consistent t in making the postseason in some campaigns, but for Curtin this is it!
As mentioned before the way this club directives have been arming themselves for this 2019, the club is looking to make all sorts of impact in league play and in cup competitions as well.
So far, the club busy in its preseason reinforcing any of its most vulnerable areas in its roster while many players from last year the club has exercise their options in trading them as well not making a return to the club.
By reinforcing several positions that the club was in much need of strengthening as well opening the doors to several of its Homegrown Players after seeing the potential all of these have, recently the U made all around headlines with their new acquisition.
The arrivals of two goalkeeper’s makes you think of how this area has been strengthen to uplift its defense. In addition, of reinforcing the defense backfield with free agent and experienced Aurellien Collin as well the arrival of German Kai Wagner from Wurzburger Kickers.
By adding a power forward in Brazilian Sergio Santos from Chilean side Audax Italiano as well, the promotion of HGP of Brenden Aaronson in the midfield and recently adding experienced Mexican international Marco Fabian.
The Union is ready to fly high in what always shows a much-disputed Eastern Conference that will welcome a new member in FC Cincinnati, elevating the levels of competition intis conference and starting a new series of Derbies.
The arrival of forward Sergio Santos will elevate the competition internally with returning players in CJ Sapong, Kacper Przybylko, Cory Burke, Fafa Picault and David Accam. For sure, Jim Curtin will like to see the productivity of his frontal attack increase after finishing with 49 goals in 2018.
In the end manager, Jim Curtin is looking forward to a notable campaign and making sure he can overcame last campaign end after his side assured the last spot in the postseason in sixth place. As his aims are to finish within the top three spots in the conference.
A promising campaign is in the works in Philly and its diehard base in the Sons of Benn looking to see his squad make a dash to the league finals already denied but this time is serious business to make it to the fete of the grand finale.
My prediction will be a fourth place.
