So close but so far and left on the way, that’s the story
with the Boys from New Jersey being on the verge of the finals and missing it
badly after posting an amazing campaign.
This is it for manager Chris Armas looking forward to a successful
run in the postseason and maybe reach those elusive finals in this upcoming 2020.
Despite the team seeing a good number of important
players these had in the past leave, in the end, manager Armas is looking
forward in rebuilding this team with new blood and in this SuperDraft the club
armed itself with some hopefuls that one can make the impact.
The NYRB have given new contracts to the big team to midfielder
Chris Lema, midfielder Josh Sims, midfielder Cristian Casseres, Jared Strout, goalkeeper
Ryan Meara and defender Amro Tarek,s this players according to manager Armas
are ready to shine with the big team.
With the selections of defender Patrick Seagrist on the
10th, , midfielder Cherif Dieye in the 15th, goalkeeper Wallis Lapsley 36th , midfielder
Deri Corfe 41st and academy product John Tolkin as a HG.
So far, in the preseason the arrivals of goalkeeper David
Jensen from Utrech of the Eredivisie, defender Mandela Egbo from German side SV
Darmstadt and claiming off waivers goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh formerly with the
Portland Timbers.
After the departures of notable players in goalkeeper
Luis Gonzalez, forward Bradley Wright Phillips, midfielder Derrick Etienne Jr and
defender Kemar Lawrence to new squads.
Still, for manager Chris Armas his move forward approach is
somehow contagious with all his team and going strong in the preseason the man
will have a tough time selecting who will be the players to make up the team at
the start of the season.
With many positives in the club scrimmages, manager Armas
has seen the potential of his team and the damage these can produce against their
league foes come March 1st when they open the season at Red Bull
Arena against second-year team FC Cincinnati.
Moving on the net week on the road at Rio Tinto Stadium
and face off against the Real Salt Lake Royals on Saturday, March 7and at
Allianz Field against the Minnesota United Loons on a game scheduled on Sunday, March
15.
In the end, many see the NYRB as a team in transition despite
the positive results in the preseason, but somehow manager Chris Armas must produce
a miracle in his current roster to make it into the playoffs in what seems to
be another contested season in the East.
I foresee a team struggling and with a ninth-place finish
in the end but not too quick to jump into conclusions as the Red Bulls are one
tough competitor and these can sneak their way into the postseason in the conclusion
of this 2020 season.
