The Shamrock Rovers are making a statement in this edition
of the League of Ireland with a goal rout over a hapless Cork City, netting
back to back losses at the start of this campaign and looking a bit worrisome.
In other results, the Bohs is in the winning column over Waterford
along with their cross-town neighbors the Pats getting a valuable victory to a luckless
Sligo Rovers not seeing daylight in two-game as Liam Buckley and company the
concerns mount.
In Tolka Park back in Drumcomdra, Dublin, the local Shels
almost delivered an upset over the defending champions Dundalk until these
rallies for the win and continue their run with perfection, back in Brandywell
the Candystripes and Harps had a share of the spoils.
In the Regional Sports
Centre, the local Waterford Blues couldn’t continue on their winning ways after
getting a disappointing loss against a visiting Bohemian side coming determined
for the win.
Everything started when Blues midfielder Sam Bone in the 42’
scoring on his own goal, its when the visiting Gypsies scoring from the penalty
area in the 45’ by Daniel Mandriou for the win.
Waterford 0-2 Bohemians
In Derry City, the local Candystripes hosted the likes of Finn
Harps coming to visit the colossus of Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium, with the
new Harps opening the score via Ryan Connolly 33’.
The game looked like a sure three points for the visitors
but in’ the end the locals via a late
goal near ending time from Adam Liddle in the 90’ saved the locals from a hurtful
loss at home.
Derry City 1-1 Finn Harps
The Showgrounds of Sligo where the local Bit O’ Red looking
for its first win of the season where to host the likes of Saint Patrick’s Athletic
as both sides losing their openers, a win was imperative for both sides.
However, for the visiting Pats, with first-half goals
from Ronan Hale 26’ and Christopher Forrester 35’, these scores and doubling defensively in the second half, the Saints persevere for their first win.
Sligo Rovers 0-2 Saint Patrick’s Athletic
In Tolka Park the recently promoted Shelbourne Reds almost
pulled a turnaround against the defending champions Dundalk FC looking to keep their
perfect start with a win that looked tough.
Still, the Lilywhites via Andrew Boyle opened the score in
the 19’ going to halftime with the lead, in the 44’ Patrick Hoban scored the go-ahead until the 52’ Gary Deegan for the Shels pulled within a goal.
In Tallaght Stadium the local Hoops delivered a wondrous
performance against what looked like a lack of fight, decimated and ill-fated
Cork City side netting its second loss in what appears to be a long season.
With six goals rout over the Rebel Army, the Rovers via
Graham Burke scoring in the 33’, 42’, 75’, 78’ and 80’ in addition to Jack Byrne
scoring in the 60’, the Shamrock Rovers are the heavy favorites.
