Days of upsets in Premiership with Crystal Palace win over City in Etihad

Manchester City 2, Crystal Palace 3
Etihad Stadium, Manchester

For the visiting Glaziers today’s feat in Etihad a fortress for Pep Guardiola’s Sky Blues armada that before this match the local Manchester City side was one unstoppable squad at home, but streaks one day have to end.

If someone came ready to play ball and seriously the visiting Crystal Palace Boys did the ultimate of miracles after spoiling the winning streak the City Boys were enjoying for quite some time under their Catalan Boss.

However as I mentioned before that streaks and records are meant to be broken or fall, these came to its end after seeing how an inspired and initiative filled Wilfred Zaha along with an inspired and fighting Eagles initial eleven.

With today’s loss, the Citizens endured their second loss of this edition of Premiership and before the year and first half ends; these already have surrendered their perfection-riddled status with losses against Chelsea and now Crystal Palace.

So far, these losses have the defending champion’s trialing the Liverpool Reds that after their win over the Wolves on Friday night these are riding high with a four-point lead atop the league lead and exposing the Sky Blues weakness.

For the visiting side manager Roy Hodgson, he never enjoyed this win as he and his Glaziers won this association shield but in the end he and his Boys can overcome all the odds and showing off any of the so called giants vulnerabilities.

This win for sure can uplift this squad confidence and game as well, one of those exposures was the defensive game of the visiting South London squad that came ready to hand their hosts a bitter defeat.

After last campaign troubles for the Eagles that almost flirted with relegation and Hodgson managing it away from the infamous descent spots and save its hive and with a strong finish in eleventh place these Eagles prevailed and saw the light of another day in Premiership.

So far, in this campaign CPFC has been on a fight to prevent a descent into the last three spots of the bottom of the table, todays win assures this squad solidly in fourteenth place as well showing off the classical David versus Goliath battle.

Not everything started perfect for the Eagles, after a one two combination from Fabian Dleph to Ilkay Gundogan in the 27’ minute opened the score for the locals, but not for a long time after the response from the visitors was immediate.

When Palace James Arthur found a wide-open Jeffrey Schlupp for the visitors first score with six minutes after the locals scored, tying the match at one goal apiece, but not for long as the stamina and determination from Hodgson and company was very visible.

As Andros Townsend in the 35’ minute put the Eagles ahead to the dismay of the Citizens followers overwhelming the contingent of Crystal Palace supporters that left Manchester City with the joy of a win and his squad netting three valuable points.

Still the second half saw the best of both squads with Luka Milivojevic scoring via a penal in the  51’ minute and Kevin De Bruyne not call in the initial eleven by Pep Guardiola arguing rest, he score the Citizens second goal in the 85’ minute.

In the end, the Eagles showed off an impressive defensive game and momentum coming to today’s match as well a lesson given to the locals that there is no such thing than an easy foe and these Eagles really showed it off with an all-around fight.
