One-spirited Wolves side delivers mayhem against Chelsea

Wolverhampton 2, Chelsea 1
Molineaux Stadium, Wolverhampton

Finally a win worth savoring for this spirited and determined Wolverhampton side, after facing a heavily favored Chelsea Blues coming to Molineux Stadium in Premiership’s midweek schedule.

For the local Wolves, this match was a challenge after coming from two games losing streak and facing a hardened Blues squad coming from a win over Fulham over the weekend in the West London Derby.

In this match manger Nuño Espiritu Santo gamble with England’s U-17 Morgan Gibbs- White that became an instant sensation contributing for his side cause assisting for one of the squads score.

Manager Espiritu Santo putting a very odd 3-4-2-1 formation in the end worked wonders in this match second half when his squad suddenly awakened and put the visiting Pensioners with their backs against the wall.

As the second, half became primetime for the local Wanderers exercising pure pressure and with formidable counters; these in the end persevere along with their Boss substitutions to culminate the feat.

Still the first half with a persistent Chelsea frontal attack going at Rui Patricio posts, these had their first score in the 18’ minute when Eden Hazard assist to Ruben Loftus- Cheek hit the back net and little did the Wolves keeper could do to stop the ball.

In spite of Connor Cody, the Wolves captain deflecting the ball with his head but the goal was awarded to Loftus- Cheek in the end not counting against the locals’ defender as an own goal.

The pressure by the visiting Chelsea side was put on by Willian with a free kick and seeing a would be goal refused by Rui Patricio and alter a counter that in the end would become a score, the opportune tackle by Wolves Ryan Bennet stopped the drive.

As the pressure continued by Chelsea with a near miss by Alvaro Morata this time Wolves Willy Boly broke the pay and later seeing N Golo Kante effort stopped by a sensational and inspired local goalkeeper moves.

With halftime, favoring the visiting Blues, the second half was to offer us a much better affair, these Wanderers are playing hungry, and with the desires of seeing another day in the top circuit of Premiership with their display.

As the Wolves, first goal came from a nice filtered pass to Raul Jiménez no doubting his instincts of a scorer the Mexican international sent a shoot that beat the likes of keeper Arrizabalaga for the locals’ first score and tying the match at a goal apiece.

The eighteen-year-old manager Espiritu Santo bet on made this score and he paid off in the 59’ minute with this beauty of a score, as more was to come in the 63’ minute the second goal came from another promise.

As Matt Doherty served the assist for Diogo Jota to put the game away in spite of Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas near score to succumb to the push and defensive fence put on by the locals to persever for the win.

What a turnaround the locals put on to the joy of their followers in a near sold out Molineaux Stadium seeing the return of to the winning column by its Wolfpack.
