Recap of a busy weekend in the Danske Banke Premierhip

As December coming to its final match week, so far the Sky Blues of Ballymena United, are putting distance between them and their closest chasers Linfield, Glenavon, and Crusaders.

With Boxing Day considered one of the most important of face offs, the Sky Blues can extend their lead in the top with a win against Coleraine, still do not count these Bannsiders as a Minnow along Glentoran going against Linfield.

Back in the Showgrounds of Ballymena, the local Sky Blues solidified in first place with a rout over troubled Ards and netting a clean sheet for a 2-0 win over the cellar stricken squad, and going four points clear in first.

The scores from Leroy Millar 12’ minute and Jude Winchester 35’ both in the first half were enough for the locals to display a dfenvie gem to earned a win and looking to stay at the league top.

Back in the colossus of Belfast Windsor Park, the local Linfield Blues and the Lurgan Blues of Glenavon shared the points in a stalemate with no goals in a match that opportunities were aplenty for both squads.

In Seaview the defending champions netted and important win over a visiting the Point side of Warrenpoint Town coming to these parts of Belfast and netting an odd results in spite of the locals OG.

The visiting side could not recover and not able to rally as the locals got scores from Phillip Lowry 53’, David Cushley 55’ and Ross Clarke 90+4 as well an OG by Colin Coates 90’.

In the Showgrounds, the local Coleraine Bannsiders got an important win over visiting Dungannon Swifts as the visitors with this loss are slipping in the bottom of the table.

With the locals Darren McAuley 31’ via a penalty and James McLaughlin 50’ were enough to seal the deal for the Bannsiders and a reaction by the Swifts in the 62’ minute by Darren Hughes but fell short.

In a goal fest, the locals Institute got the win over the visiting Reds of Cliftonville as the Stute lads are moving on up the overall table with this win and getting as far away from the relegation spots.
