Felipe Anderson on the double for the Hammers at the coast

Southampton 1, West Ham United 2
Saint Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

What a game displayed by both West Ham and Southampton in Saint Mary’s, as the Saints all of a sudden starting a revival under their new manager, today putting their streak on the line against the visiting Hammers.

The arrival of Ralph Krueger at Saint Mary’s, looking forward to end these squad problems with relegation and stage a revival that before this match the Saints had a two game winning streak from their Chairman turned manager.

With a first half duel between these two squads and ending with no goals and spite of both sides staging a number of opportunities to beat each ones goalposts, this match had the elements of an all-around contest.

For the Academy of Football suddenly enjoying a positive streak until that lost against Watford this past weekend, these had a run with perfection of three games seeing a total recovery after a slow start.

Coming from a squad that in the preseason showed off their big pockets and displaying another spending frenzy in getting important players and among one of them was Brazilian stellar Felipe Anderson that this squad paid a total of £42 million.

However, the Saints marched successfully and showing signs of instant recovery under their new man on the helm and in the 50’ minute, the Saints opened the score after a series of misses and intents, finally came Nathan Redmond pushing the ball.

After that odd play that the Irons demanded to call off for a non-existent offside, still for the game official the play stood and the Saints went up the score and sending the whole of Saint Mary’s into a frenzy.

The celebrations and lead unfortunately lasted shortly after the visitor’s response  came three minutes alter with a beauty of a shoot from the man of the match Felipe Anderson scoring the equalizer in the 53’ minute.

No later in the 59’ minute came once again the Hammers counter attack on a 4-3 run a brilliantly placed ball from Michail Antonio that found an opportune Anderson and with no hesitation put the ball on the back of the net.

With this win, the West Ham side raises in the table to ninth place and with 27 points and displaying the football this squad built around the demands of their man in the helm Manuel Pellegrini that has found his winning touch.

As the Chilean with a number of notable players on the DL, he still managed to get a valuable win on the road and now return home to play struggling Burnley and with the opportunity to build more momentum if these deliver another win.

Finally for Felipe Anderson and West Ham seeing how their investment is paying off, today the Brazilian had an amazing match and hence the results of this lad skills that uplifted his squad once again in the positive.
