Recap of a shortened week by odd weather in the Danske Banke Premiership


With just three games out of six scheduled, after three postponed due to the inclemency of storm Diedre that cancelled several matches in the Dankse Banke Premiership. 

Among the main matches canceled were Ballymena United against Institute, Newry City against Linfield and Glentoran against Warrenton Point.

Still three matches survived the fury of this front with the first match scheduled on Friday and two on Saturday that recap this weekend match week that in the end these three postponed matches will be scheduled on a later date.

Starting on Friday night match between the Lurgan Blues and Bannsiders in a match scheduled at Mourneview Park as the Glenavon side came ahead with a valuable win and keeping it interesting. 

For the Mourneview Aces with a double from Andrew Mitchell in the 12’ and 35’, in the second half with goals from Mark Sykes 68’ and Jordan Jenkins 87’ for the clean sheet for Jonathan Tuffey.

Glenavon 4, Coleraine 0

With a lone goal from Jordan Forsyhte on the 9’ minute, the defending champions Crusaders rise to the occasion and won their match on the quest of the Hachetmen of staging a comeback after a slow league start. 

 This win puts them on the chase for first within seven points of the leader Ballymena United with 42 points and seeing their match cancelled due to weather constraints.

Going to Newtonards colossus Clandeboye Park in Bangor, the local Ards cannot see daylight of a win and endured another defeat, as they are becoming prime candidates for the league abyss of relegation. 

This time the Red and Blues had to face off a streaking Cliftonville Reds that came ready to win and with scores from Rory Donelly 8’, Joe Gormley 10’ and Levi Ives 53’ and the local Ards an own goal from  Rory Donnelly 23’.
