With the Airtricity League of Ireland is about
to kick out its campaign and one of its utmost squads the Boys of the Dundalk
FC, looking forward to another successful defense of their shield and looking
forward to a fourth one in a consecutive way.
Especially when last campaign, we can say
it were a banner and a one of the kind for the Louth County Boys, after winning
their third league shield in a row- they made an amazing first timer run in the
UEFA Europa League.
Despite their record with three four losses
a win and a draw, still the Lilywhites showed off that the League of the Republic
of Ireland is poised for much higher challenges and their champions did one
amazing job.
After being the first Irish side to reach
the playoffs of the always-prestigious UEFA Champions League as well another
first when they beat in the group stages, Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Now its show time and looking for an encore
but in the grand ball of them all, the Champions League were these start once
again in the first rounds of elimination and with a lot of enthusiasm Kenny and
his chaps can be amongst the big guns.
With a very dependable and fighting squad,
Manager Stephen Kenny after seeing some and exodus of some of his important players
going to England’s Championship side Preston in Darryl Horgan and Andy Boyle
and one to their league foes the Hoops.
The vision for the Lilywhites Boss and his keen
eye for talent, are one that has turned his club into a total winner and
turning his absences into the arrival of a talented players with an all-around
ambition to continue the winning tradition alive in Oriel Park.
With new faces in the roster in former Pats
Sean Hoare and Jamie Mc Grath, Derry City Danish native Niklas Vemmelund and
Boreham Wood and Chelsea youth Conor Clifford completing the roster for the
Lilywhites.
Also with new deals for current players and
these returning to Oriel Park in keepers Gabriel Sava, Gary Rogers, David Mc
Millan, Sean Gannon, Dave Massey, John Moutney, Paddy Barrett, Ciaran Kilduff
and Robbie Benson.
The Lilywhites are ready to front another
challenging and tough campaign as the squad to beat.
When February 24 comes, the Loath County
squad will start the defense of its shield and looking forward to the Presidents,
EA Sports and FAI Cups to add these trophies to their long cpollection of
shields.
So far, this club has won it all and for their
man at the helm Stephen Kenny who earned the Swai Personality of the year, Phillips Sports and the RTE Sport Manager of
the year for a superb job and all around achievements as manager of the
Lilywhites.
At the end, Dundalk FC has all the elements
of making a strong and spectacular campaign in Oriel Park and starts at home against
the Shamrock Rovers and the eek after to face the Sligo Rovers to return home
and play recently promoted Limerick FC.
The Lilywhites are looking for an encore of
last campaign successes in seeking another league shield and this time make it into
the final knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, something the Louth
County squad can deliver.
