Important win posted
in Solitude for the Cliftonville bunch, after dispatching a contested match
against a resilient and hardened Ards, assuring an important win for the Reds.
Very well these
moving within three points of their arch-rivals the Linfield Blues, currently on
second place.
Nothing written so
far in the North Ireland Premier League, as both Reds and Blues looking to
derail the title hopes of the two-time winner Crusaders, as the Solitude Boys
are poised for the ultimate of glories.
Alongside the
Linfield bunch now battling a two-way race to catch up with the Crusaders and
now feeling the pressure from the Cliftonville Reds, these looking to make a
move considered important.
From now on, the race
to the top of the Danske Bank Premiership intensifies and seeing a three way
race and with every point accounted for, the win for Reds in league competition
as well three points earned, considered as gold.
Especially when you
are battling squads as resilient and hardened as the Ards, despite their spot
in the table but for them to the race to the top and netting a European spot is
something they welcome to accomplish in this campaign end.
Still the way the visiting
Reds and Blues initial eleven, looking very defiant and ambitious in its touch
and counterattacks, many at Solitude though they were going to see an upset in
the makings when these started generating dangerous plays.
It is when a clear
handball by the Reds defender in the 29th marked the first goal for
the Ards when Levi Ives was call off and the visitors through Michael Rudy
converted for the first score of the match, until the end of the first half.
As the Reds took
matters more seriously in the second half, it is when they come alive in their
offensive quest and finally putting a stop to the visitor’s momentum.
The Reds made a
turnaround in the second half with double dose of scores from David Mc Daid in the
46th minute and later on by Levy Ives in the 66th to
erase that handball mess in the first half, giving the visitors the early lead.
At the end, his score
uplifted his squad for the win and being the go-ahead goal for the win,
uplifting the chances of Manager Gerard Lyttle to put on run into second place
in the overall table and maybe take a shoot of the first place Crusaders.
A valuable win was
this for the Reds as their next match will be the Belfast Derby on 21 January
going again the Crusaders at Seaview and try to get a win after their loss at
Solitude on 2016.
This win for Cliftonville
Manager, was a valuable one after seeing his squad getting up from a near
knockout and fought his way to net an important win on the eve of the always
contested and disputed Belfast Derby.
