What a valuable win
at Seaview for the Linfield Bunch, these putting a twist in the race for the shield
in the NIPL, cutting the lead for the defending champions Crusaders FC lead, to
just four points.

December 31 was to
witness another edition of the Belfast Derby, here the local Crusaders came with
the all-around label of favorites and looking for the win to increase their
lead over their cross-town foes and start this 2017 on a high note.
Despite the Blues
playing as visitors, these manage to put in control this match from start to
finish and sentenced this match since the early minutes with a double dose of
goals from Aaron Burns and Andrew Waterworth.

Despite the dominance
of the Blues, the only negative of this match was a flagrant tackle by the
Linfield Boss David Healy over Crusaders player Paul Heatley, which led to both
benches, emptied and saw both Manager and Blues Captain Jamie Mulgrew getting red
carded.

Getting back to the match,
the Blues continue their mastery of this, until the 72nd minute when
the Crusaders saw a light at the end, when Jordan Owens made it interesting
with a goal that broke the clean sheet for the visitors.
Very well making it a
contest with some time for the home team to make things happen or at least go
for the draw, but the Linfield backfield well defended its posts and at the end
persevere to take home a notable win.

Still for the local
Crusaders Boss Stephen Baxter despite his efforts and putting three new set of
leg into the pitch to try to salvage at least the point, the afternoon was to
side towards the visitors who took three points of gold.
Very well, keep their
hopes up towards the chase of the top spot in the North Ireland Premiership,
and today’s achievement with just ten men left, at the end the persistence of
the visiting Linfield Blues paid off at the end.
