Everton set the tone at home over clueless Citizens

When Everton plays a one of a kind football, on the mark and filled with loads of inspiration, as the way they did today, inexplicably I ask myself of why this squad is not among the Premiership giants.

In today’s match, considered as a total challenge for the Boys of Ronnie Koeman and playing at home over one of the most difficult and toughest squads in the league, the Manchester City Citizens.

Bringing a man in its helm considered as a total winner and an attacking Sky Blues squad showing off its best arsenal in Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Kevyn De Bruyne and David Silva, leading their attack.

Considered as one lethal, destructive as a pile of TNT to opposing squad’s defenses, today was not the day to perform their magic, and concluded with a shut off by an ambitious and confident Toffee backfield.

As an inspired School of Science, made a mockery of the visiting defensive backfield, as the visiting Etihad Boys lived an afternoon they for sure would like to forget.

Very well putting in evidence many problems arising for the Etihad Boys as the league continues its course.

It does not come easy Mister Guardiola and the English Premier league is not a walk a in the park or picnic, whatever you want to make out of this expression.

Memorable, you bet as today's match was a way for the Dutch Boss to make some changes in his lineup and make good use of his men and after a busy week of dealing and wheeling.

As in today’s match, he got his ace under the sleeve with an academy prodigy in Tom Davies making a start in the initial eleven, very well in the awaiting Ademola Lookman the Charlton FC man that came with a nice price tag.

As this squad is not one that can count with a hefty budget and brag about it, still one plus is their academy not taken advantage and with loads of talented lads looking forward to an opportunity in the big squad.

With the game on and Guardiola side sporting a 4-3-2-1 formation sending a lone Sergio Aguero up front but accompanied by his court, the Sky Blues started creating all sorts of opportunities in the field, and here where Raheem Sterling made his moves.

But for his surprise the final one were executed marvelously by the locals defense stopping this chap cold after making three attempts towards the posts defended by Joel Robles, who had an amazing afternoon.

Not even Sterling, De Buyne or Aguero creating dangers despite all of them being so close and not focusing or delivering on target when needed, missing many clear opportunities that could made it a very contested affair.

At the end, the joy of the Toffees defense had an amazing afternoon stopping the visitor’s attacks.

I mean an unforgettable afternoon for all of the Everton 11, including its fab four strikers that left many in EPL circles in total awe, after trouncing on what many considered one of the utmost of defenses in the league and net a clean sheet on top!

Spectacular I must state each one of the goals scored over City and the way the Everton gang generated them with their one of a kind inspiration that concluded with an all-around top of the line finish.

Despite the Blues getting a goal annulled after an offside, the dominance of the locals to the delight of their followers in a state of frenzy at Goodison Park, after 34 minutes in the match, came Belgian sensation Romelu Lukaku first score.

The buck did not stop there when the second half the Toffees fireworks started mayhem in the visitor’s backfield and in the 47 came Kevin Mirallas second goal to open the second half, still the buck did not stop there.

It is when the Everton prodigy and academy pride Tom Davies put a teen twist into this match with an all-around play that he started and later finishing it, getting out of the canvas to seal the deal for the 3-0 in the 79 minute.

As the Blues Boss continued his mastery and applying his blueprint, among one of his most accurate ones, were the moves he instituted when he put in the field a couple of aces in Morgan Schneiderlin in the 65th and later Ademalo Lookman in the 90th minute.

The debut of the former Addick, another teen that would set the tone and deliver the fatal blow to the Sky Blues, Ademola Lookman, who on injury time took advantage of a John Stones failed attempt to clear and here this teen wiz, scoring the fatal 4-0.

At the end, for Ronnie Koeman and his Toffees, after his raucous win over one of the league’s most difficult of adversaries and the way his squad outmaneuver them, exposes a club urged to become a stellar one and be among the top four squads.

The question is when and how to overcome at times the mediocre play and shake off that fright of becoming a total winner, as this squad is one serious candidate to become as an all-around contender in the ranks of the English Premier League.
