Welcome to the ranks
of Major League Soccer Atlanta United, as Tata Martino has a major challenge
ahead, as the Boss of the new expansion side in Americas top tier league.
Still for the Argentine
new journey in American lands and under the helm of a new squad to make its
debut on March 5 at home against the New York Red Bulls, it will not be an easy
affair for the Southerners.
One thing for this
squad front office they are confident ahead of their man at the helm, coming with
an impressive CV and with an impressive managerial career in his native Argentina,
Paraguay and Spain.
Very well, in his
stints with both Paraguayan and Argentinian National teams, the United has its
ideal man to build up a giant towards this club future in MLS.
The outlook of
putting an exciting and one of a kind campaign for the debutante Atlanta United
Boys will be one major one and filled with plenty of high expectations, deposited
in seeing a total contender in the Eastern Conference and the 2017 campaign.
If someone deserves kudos,
is this club front office, working on overdrive to build a one of a kind, competitive
and spectacular squad for Tata Martino.
As the Andean is one
man that his traits in football are a high press and attacking football, he calls
the tiki- taka style adding his own tactics, using a midfield press along a dynamic
and quick passing adding his own creative approach.
Another plus for
Manager Martino is his vision of utilizing and promoting in each squad he manages
its academies and being highly dependent on its youth systems, something many American
Bosses can learn from this man.
So far, the arrival of
a top of the line arsenal composed of experienced, rookies and homegrown players
that will complement this squad on eye of a contested 2017.
With players in USMNT
Greg Garza coming from Mexican, side Xolos, SKC Jacob Peterson, Galaxy Jeff
Larentowicz, Cardiff Kenwyne Jones, Wigan Chris Cann, Velez Sarsfield Yamil
Assad and Hector Villalba on loan to Tijuana Xolos.
Reinforcing its
midfield but caring for areas in its defense and frontal attack, alongside a
reliable keeper core, the Atlanta squad is molding its squad to make a decent
run and front it with an all-around pride.
In its midfield with a combination of Yamil
Assad, Chris Cann, Tito Villalba, Miguel Almiron and Jeff Larentowicz, Kevin
Kratz, Homegrown Andrew Carleton and Harrison Heath, the Atlanta main attacking
area is already complete.
In its striker force
with championship side Kenwyne Jones, Romario Williams, USMNT U-20 Brandon
Vazquez, Jacob Peterson and Jeffrey Otoo, maybe the need of another experienced
attacker will be in United’s agenda.
Its defensive
backfield with experienced Greg Garza, Zach Lloyd and Michael Parkhurst experience
will be vital in using it, to lead a young core in Mark Bloom and Mikey Ambrose
and maybe a couple of more players to add this will complete its defensive side.
With a couple of keepers
in Alec Kann and indisputable starter followed by USL Greek player from Charleston
Battery, Alexandros Tabakis, by far this squad is looking good.
At the end, I see a
fighting squad that can make honor to its motto with determination and a
commitment to excellence, this campaign can be a marvelous and spectacular one
with the current roster already established.
Excitement is
something already generated by this squad and with an already established army
of followers in the Terminus Legion, Atlanta United is ready to launch in what
seems a new era in American soccer history.
If things go as
envisioned by its man at the helm, we may have a challenger and a true winner
in the newcomer Atlanta United Football Club, maybe a sixth spot if they make
it into the league postseason and contesting to earn it.
Welcome aboard Atlanta
United FC.
