What a way for Timbers
Manager Caleb Porter to hold his ground after a latest barrage of negative results
turning out for his PTFC lately. Still give the man credit for always putting on
a fight as well rallying his initial eleven to put on a positive stand in the
field.

A word that expresses
a man frustration were the ones heard in the Timbers post match press
conference by a man that is looking for immediate solutions to end his squad
skid as well stop the series of injuries happening to some of his key players.
Expressing how his
side really went out of his way and put on a magnificent game and with total dominance
over the new Yorker's, two plays made a whole difference for the visiting squad
to win their third in a row. Opposite to the local PTFC that registered its
third loss in a row and first time a situation like this, occur under the Caleb
Porter era.
Very well condemning the
play that started the momentum for the New Yorker's on an apparent handball not
seen by the referee, something that Manager Porter states the importance of the
lineman and fourth official to see into these situations. Not today as these were missing in action.
As this campaign has seen,
how the PTFC has to play against not only its opponents but also the other one
in the officials who with their calls have been a certain negative influence in
several matches in this campaign for the Timbers.

The only problem that
lately the way the league has been scheduling some matches, many squads so far
are showing signs of fatigue and wear, with the PTFC being one of them. This comes after a playing three matches in a
span of eight days. Two away matches in Vancouver and Dallas in a midweek match
and returning home against on Sunday against the NYCFC.
Despite the signs of exhaustion
by several of the Timbers players, this squad put on a magnificent game that
was much in favor of Portland with possession, shoots and overall attempts on
goal that in the 55th minute Adi put the ball on the New Yorkers
goal.

At the end, the New Yorker's persevere
thanks to a solid a stingy defensive backfield as well a stellar afternoon under
the posts of their goalie Josh Saunders, who prevented many attempts of the home
squad. This match considered as a sort of homecoming for the native of Grants
Pass, Oregon and former USL Portland Timbers.
For now, the role of Manager Porter is to
focus on next match and second Cascadia Derby with a rival that already
defeated his squad at BC Place and a win at home can be considered a shoot of optimism
for the PTFC Boys.
