The Portland Timbers getting back their winning rhythm

On a nice sunny afternoon cherished by many Portlanders, the scenario was ready and set to put on a show courtesy of the mighty boys of the PTFC.

This match considered a tough one, difficult due to the label of the locals rival in turn- the always-mighty Toronto FC and its star plagued initial eleven.  Capable of causing havoc and lately having the local’s number in their past two meetings back at BMO Field.

The local Rose City Boys enjoying two matches without knowing the meaning of a loss and after a near win at Gillette Stadium back in New England; this was a day for setting the pitch for one perfect and one of a kind match at its end.

Especially when you have in your lineup chaps of the likes of its Atomic Ant Sebastian Giovinco, Team USA Michael Bradley and Jozi Altidore and others. Alongside seeing a sort of a homecoming for former Timbers captain Will Johnson, returning to the theater of many of his successes past.

After he was showered with applauses and remembered for his feats past, things turn for an ugly twist, after a non-ethical play and horrid tackle over Diego Valeri and later contributing with his game-tying goal in the 40th minute. Suddenly boos and disapproval of his game were immediate felt by the former Timbers captain.

Still this squad is getting its grove, winning attitude and its fighting spirit back.

Very well one thing seen in this match the return of Liam Ridgewell in the backfield, injecting some optimism, seriousness and focus on newcomers Chris Klute and Zarek Valentin.

Elevating the prospects of having a very close competition with these three of who will be the appropriate one to net the starting job and replace former Timber Jorge VillafaƱa role of defensive and offensive playmaker.

Something that Manager Caleb Porter foresees a much-contested situation- when injured Alvas Powell returns to the active roster and tries to see if he still has his starting job available. If not he will be in the need to fight his way to earn it with the competion he has ahead.

Interesting is the way and the heroics seen lately by the Timbers reserve goalie Jake Gleeson who really topped the charts with his one of a kind performances, since taking over for an injured Kwarsey.

Showing off in every match, he started lately his skills and readiness to take over the starting role under the Timbers goalpost and maybe taking away the starting role from Adam Kwarsey.

Once again here we  are to be witnessing another competition for the starting job at goalkeeper by a magnificent Jake Gleeson heroic performances that prevented a serious and odd results for the PTFC.

Inspired is the word as well motivated by a raucous and with the majesty of the PTFC follower’s nonstop support thought-out the whole ninety minutes. That became of a motivation for the Rose City Boys after the support of their twelve men!

To celebrate such feat, birthday boy Diego Valeri treated all of the more of the 21,000 in attendance to a terrific free kick that Toronto goalie Clint Irwin went out of his way to make his barrier as perfect to see it defeated later with an all-around class act goal.

Sealing the deal and netting three points of gold for the winning cause that at the end shows off why the moves of the Cheesmaster work wonders and became fruitful for his team, with the results speaking for themselves. The Rose City Boys are back with an absolute authority.
