Beware of those Hull City Tigers

With nothing to lose but with lots of grounds to prove this club will and determination in this upcoming campaign of the English Premier League. The Hull City Tigers are poised to turn another chapter in their club-troubled history and show there is life after Bruce!

Opening day in Premiership under the lights and making all sorts of headlines when you have to pamper your guest in the defending Champions Leicester City, the outlook did not look promising for the Yorkshire Boys.

Still in the mind of their new Boss Mike Phelan instructions to his chaps to just have fun and play a one on one and not be intimidated by the eleven in front of them, despite these being the defending champions.

On day one of Premiership action, the Leicester City squad came looking forward to start in the same way they did last campaign with a win and on Manager Claudio Rainieri playing a newly promoted Championship squad it was going to be a field day for his Foxes.

Wrong he was as they say that there is no such thing than an easy foe and today the Foxes stumble upon a not an easy but a hardened one, who came poised to play and take advantage of all the opportunities given to them.

As Manager Phelan sent a 4-3-3 formation and looking forward to start initiating something in its frontal attack with Robert Snodgrass, Abel Hernandez and Adama Diomande in the front along a combination of three midfielders to take over the offense and defensive roles.

Especially to reinforce and stop a fast forward 4-4-2 formation Leicester City boss sent into this game with a frontal attack headed by Ahmed Musa and striking sensation Jamie Vardy.

In a match were both squad put on their best efforts and put on an excellent and spectacular show all afternoon long, the Tigers became the fortunate ones. After a play that City keeper stopped all of a sudden, on the rebound that favored Hull forward Adama Diomande, with a beautiful  bicycle kick he converted to give the home team the lead before the end of regulation.

Still with an array of volleys sent by the Leicester City strikers repeatedly, the post of Hull keeper Eldin Jakupovic who at the end should ben considered the ultimate hero for his heroics and stopping cold in its tracks the Foxes strikers’ pressure.

In the 47th, not even the second half having a few minutes when the Tigers midfielder Tom Huddlestone trip Demaray Gray for the foul inside the area, here came the opportunity of gold for the visitors and via Ryad Mahrez the score was tied at one goal apiece, via a PK.

Not even ten minutes went into the game when the pressure came from the home squad as Robert Snodgrass left footed a shoot into the corner of the posts and nothing for City keeper Kapser Schmeichel to stop the go-ahead goal for the locals.

As KCOM Stadium became a madhouse in how their Boys became the victimizers of its hosts these coming with the label of all around favorites to take their first three points in the campaign, at the end those went to the locals.

A great match and even though the visiting Champions went out of their ways to look to even the scores, at the end they succumbed to a much intelligent and ambitious Hull City squad, looking like a clear favorite to win the league.

Call it luck or just a new era that can deliver joy and possible many memorable afternoons at these parts of Yorkshire, a nice 2-1 win that the Tigers opened the campaign with the right foot in the Phelan era.

Hold that Tiger!
