It don’t come easy,
as that seventies Ringo Starr song states and somehow related to what the Hull
City Tigers squad is going through, before the start of the campaign. After losing
one of their strongmen and architects of this club revival Boss Steve Bruce,
the Tigers woes before the start of this upcoming campaign started multiplying.
The departure of Manager
Steve Bruce comes on the eve of this club not being too much of opening their wallet
and lacking a sort of aggressiveness in the transfer market with just one
player to account for and front a competitive Premiership.
That became the
reason for its former Boss to call it quits, leaving this Yorkshire giant with
a big vacancy in its helm with just days to start its compromises in league
play.
Despite the hardship,
the Tigers front office went on the task and such difficult endeavor of seeking
a suitor to take over the affairs of this club, even though the start of the
new campaign is around the corner and will not give its new man at the helm
time.
Still the need of a
Manager is evidently the main goal for this club, despite several names mentioned
to take over at KCOM Stadium in Wales current Manager Chris Coleman and Italian
Gianfranco Zola, this latter one unemployed. The prospects were a bit dim for
any of these two agreeing or showing interest in the Tigers position.
As Coleman, so far
after the miracle of his Dragons performed in the past EURO, I doubt of his desire
to leave Wales’s squad and with an upcoming challenge of the world cup
qualifiers, his mind is already set on doing another feat. For the Italian his
interest and openness so far has received the proposal of the Tigers with silence
and lacking a response.
As the Tigers front
office not wasting any time and in the urgency of getting a leader, they
decided to get a bit realistic and promoting Mike Phelan, this chap comes with
a top rated school after his years of learnings the ropes under Sir Alex Ferguson’s
utmost Assistant.
Now that is something
for the Yorkshire bunch to celebrate and see with a positive outlook of this
squad future in the big circuit, as manager Phelan comes with lots of new ideas
and strategies to make this squad as a contender.
Yes, the lone signing
of Will Mannion form AFC Wimbledon tell a lot of this club limited budget and
monies available to reinforce its championship side, despite having several
players with Premiership experience.
For the new Hull City
Boss this will do and rely heavily in this squad current crop of players of mounting
a top class show and game to destabilize it foes and make it to the first half
of the campaign with a positive note.
Maybe at the second
half this club directives can reinforce some of its areas of much need and net some
players to front a contested second half and Premiership as well, it does not
look easy but surely isn’t difficult to perform miracles.
As the schedule for the
Tigers does not look appealing and easy when they receive in their first match
the defending champions of last campaign the Leicester City Foxes, then to pay
a visit to the Swans at Liberty Stadium to return home and face a renewed
Manchester United.
Luck can be on the
side of the Tigers and maybe we can expect many things from this club, but at
the end, I will not assure this club a spot in the middle of the table and
being exempt of fighting for their survival and away from fighting from
relegation.
