Que sera, sera, the
Red Devils won their first trophy under Jose Mourinhos helm and denying it to
Leicester City, last campaign Premiership champions, the pleasure of netting
another historic and reputable shield to its halls.
Today’s match and
preseason for the Foxes has been a bit of a revelation of what’s to come ahead for
them in this upcoming edition of the English Premier League. After seeing, some
tough results against Barcelona and now with league foes Manu last minute heroics.
Claudio Ranieri knows
what ahead in this campaign as well readying himself and his Boys of what has
to come in another contested edition of Premiership.
Still for the Blues eleven,
which put on a fight all afternoon long in the cathedral of football, when
Jamie Vardy took advantage of a Fellaini err to even the score after beating
United keeper De Gea on the 52nd minute of the second half.
As the Foxes Boss
sent a very open 4-4-2 formation with his aces Vardy and Okazaki up front,
their foes used a very conservative and opposing in a 4-2-3-1 with Ibramovich as
the lone attacker up front.
Disputed and fought
off in every minute of the game, as United started playing more loosely and
with more determination whenever they touch the ball, Leicester City at times,
its game became a bit anxious, disorderly and losing the ball several times.
Is Leicester City is
still in championship hangover and not being serious, as their match with Barcelona
was a sort of wake-up call on that 4-2 loss, very well against United in their second
shield won in this 2016.
A match of all around
strategies and moves from both Bosses as one did not seem to miss one of his
star players in N’ Golo Kante substituted by Nampalys Mendy who will have the
task of filling some big shoes and the speed of the departed Frenchman in the
midfield. It will not come easy as Manager Rainieri needs his midfield aces altogether
in Ryad Mahrez, Danny Drinkwater and Andy King for a continuance of their leadership
in the center of the field.
As the Leicester City
squad continues to experience firsthand what will it be in there to be hectic
campaign, by juggling with league play and domestic competitions as well international
play when the Foxes make their debut in Champions League.
With today’s performance
by the Red Devils, exposing this club in many spots and positions, especially
when Jesse Lingard exposed a weak defense of the defending champions, when he
beat seven of them, alongside their keeper Schmeichel for the opening score in the
32nd.
If a club played
attentive was Manu and inflicting serious blows to City with its backfield giving
all sorts of trouble to England’s and City striker Jamie Vardy.
As manager Rainieri
made his move in Ahmed Musa and Demarai Gray, the champion’s game changed
substantially thanks to the speed of these came and changed the course of the game
for United Midfield and its backfield.
Still Mourinho’s Boys
prevailed and continued their pressure in the remaining minutes of the game, a
sort of perseverance and defiance from United in the ending minutes. Since the
arrival of Mou to United, the competition is on and Antonio Valencia aware of it,
going for the starting job produced a nice play and its result of a fine cross
that Ibramovich with a header pushed for the go-ahead score in the 82nd.
At the end, Manu
persevered and prevail despite the Foxes push; the score remained at 2-1 for
United one of a kind win and netting their second shield in this 2016.
For Manchester United
netting their 21st Community Shield and by the way they performed,
it sure makes its followers to look ahead of what’s to come in this and other
campaigns under the Devil himself Jose Mourinho. That showing off the way they are performing
in this preseason, with their new game and attitude showed by the Portuguese 11,
they are bracing for success.
For now this is the first
of how many more shields and glory days to come under Jose Mourinho, something we
will have to see in this edition of the English Premier League.
They went to Wembley
and won!
