Forget last campaign near encounter
with relegation and by a miracle, the Galway United Boys save themselves the disgrace
of playing with the first division blokes.
New campaign and new ideals and
attitude rein at Eamonn Deacy Park and for the Tribesman the aims with their
new Boss Shane Keegan, is to rock the living foundations of the League of
Ireland and surpass their ninth place finish.
Showing off an amazing preseason the United
Boys are looking good, determined for a fight among the top spots, and be
within contention and a much higher finish than last campaign.
As always, the coveted League of
Ireland Shield is one that take many Managers sleep away but and their dreams
of owing it at every year is one persistent though and the other one to finish
among the top three and seize a European spot of the three the SSE has.
With an amazing preseason, Galway
United has shown a new approach and ambition to be amongst the league
contenders and try to deliver some of the league internal competitions trophies
to its halls at Eamonn Deacy Park.
Still the road to the top is one paved
with plenty of obstacles and for the Tribesmen to overcome the odds, these
really need to play a brilliant and one of a kind football to see if they would
like to aspire for something.
So far with several of its preparation matches
showing off what to see of this squad and winning these over squads of the
likes of Limerick FC, Athlone Town and Waterford,
the Galway bunch is up and ready.
Knowingly up front of how will this edition
levels of competition are to be seen in a much disputed way, the Tribesmen
front office immediately did their work of signing the majority of their roster
and getting important players to reinforce its eleven.
With new faces to make their debut in
Eamonn Deacy Park, the arrival of American Keeper Ciaran Nugent, Lee Grace, Ronin
Murray, David Cawley and Gavan Holloway the Tribe is up and ready to front a
contested Premiership.
As Manager Keegan making his first
rounds at the helm, he did not hesitated to appointing Colm Horgan as the team
captain, considered natural to head up his initial eleven to victory and a notable
campaign.
With the aims of excellence the Galway
United think tanks put to work and making many changes in their academy and
football operations, the Tribesmen are up and ready to make this campaign a memorable
and one of a kind.
Getting ready to start the campaign
away at Cork City and Finn Harps, their home opener against the Shamrock
Rovers, later going to Dalymont at Dublin to face the Bohs and then return to back-to-back
matches at Eamonn Dearcy Park.
