An almost perfect
picture preseason, showing off a very hardened and promising squad in the New
England Revolution, is giving many high hopes to the likes of its Boss Jay
Heaps of making a stellar campaign.
This is a squad that
always has settle for second best, after losing in the league final five times
and the Supporters Shield too, for that, this time Manager Jay Heaps its back
to business in his effort of trying to get even.
Still this campaign
with several players leaving Foxboro and just a few coming to form a part of
this Revs squad, the aim is to take the league by storm and without making any
big name signings to reinforce this squad.
So far four new faces have arrived at Gillette
Stadium, with Brian Wright acquired via the SuperDraft, Femi Hollinger- Janzen
trade from Minnesota, Benjamin Angoua- loan from Guingamp and Antonio Mlinar
Delamea- Olimpija Ljubljana.
These four newcomers
alongside the majority of the big guns of the Revolution of making a comeback,
this time the Jay Heaps can implement a staring eleven with plenty of
resilience and winning ambition to overcome the hardships of a tough campaign.
With the preseason
underway and in the desert the Revolution is making a formidable exhibition of
their one of a kind football, so the prospects of a great campaign is evidently
keeping it faithful legion of followers excited.
Another highlight of the Rev Boss of keeping a
squad with both academy and first team players is an idea to select a future
prospects to stay in the big team, one example are current academy graduates
Diego Fagundez, Scott Caldwell and Zach Herivaux.
As no signings are
making any headlines at Gillette Stadium, the New England squad has two
candidates that will make the team with living colors and reinforce one of its
weakest spots in Centre back.
In trials, so far
Donnie Smith is continuing to raise many eyebrows from both his manager and
coaching staff alongside another test player that will be netting his signature
in French Jeremy Sabaly that will be relief in this position for Jay Heaps.
As the returning
players and the new blood are making a statement in the preseason with a new
4-4-2 Diamond formation that Manager Heaps, is working on his squad and
implementing with such success and substituting their traditional 4-2-3-1.
At the end the return
of several players in Lee Nguyen, Juan Agudelo and Kei Kamara to name a few,
will be up to their leadership and push that will move this squad forward
towards the promise land of the postseason.
For the New England
Boys their final spot in the overall table in the Eastern Conference will be in
the last spot of the playoffs and with little possibilities of advancing into
the next rounds of the playoffs and very, little they will do in Cup play.
