You know what the
problem is for these Sunderland chaps, consistency and for others like the
marching Saints, pride to stop their recent skid they been actively trying to
end it and no such luck.
For Claude Puel the
first year Boss for the Saints, it was business as usual and never underestimated
his competition, after playing in their venue considered a purgatory to
visiting squads.
Still for the Boys
from the South coast this week match became a total challenge for them , after back
to back losses against Swansea and West Ham, their compromise to level their
campaign was to net a win.
At the end, this victory
became a valuable one for the visitors as they came very inspired and
determined to end their skid with a notorious rout that proved valuable for
them and as well add points to their cause.
In the case of the
hosts, the Black Cats looking forward to a win and desperately seeks it, their
aims of being able to get out of the infamous relegation spots, as in today’s
match being an important one for both squads as a win for either one was to be
a shoot of optimism.
As the match
progressed, one area the Saints Manager saw plenty of improvement was the
Saints backfield that did a superb job in stopping cold the likes of Sunderland
attack headed by Jermaine Defoe and Adnan Januzaj.
By seeing how Manager
Puel 4-2-3-1 formation, with a foursome of Soares, Stephens, Yoshida and
Bertrand that outperforming and neutering the Black Cats offensive attack to
the dismay of their followers and manager alike.
With time running out
for the Black Cats Boss David Moyes and no light at the end of the tunnel to be
of any comfort, the destiny of the Sunderland squad is to be in the Championship
League after their relegation.
Still in the brighter
side of this match was one notable striker in Southampton new member Italian
Manolo Gabbiadini, who proved his value with a double.
With a couple of
goals in the 30 and 45 minutes of the first half, these double set of goals
sentenced the whole match and proved fatal for the local squad that in the 88th
one of his players scored in his own goal and on injury time Shane Long gave
the final blow.
In a match that statically
the Saints dominated but the Black Cats did their best to try to outperform
their guests, at the end this win became a precious for the visiting Saints and
gives them a motivation ahead of their match against Arsenal.
One thing the
afternoon was to belong to Gabbiadini scoring three goals in just two matches
and proving to be an asset for the Saints in the remainder of the campaign as
every point and win seen as vital and important.
At the end the Saints
marched in the Stadium of Light and with a total eclipse by their Italian striker
they came ahead with a prized win that gives this club a boost up in the league
overall table.
