It’s about time Jürgen
Kloop side nets its first win of this new year, after a series of odd results
and draws, the Reds are back in the winning column and trailing the Blues by
ten points.
Still with today’s
win in a convincing ways and with an inspired Sadio Mane back in the lineup for
the Boys from the Kop, we may have an all-around revival in Merseyside.
Sporting a 4-3-3
formation the ideal one for the German Boss of the Reds and looking forward to
put an abrupt stop to his club dismal run in the beginning of the year, the
odds looked a bit difficult with their match against the Spurs.
As the Londoners coming
to Anfield with the resolute ideal of adding points and keep a close chase of
their cross London town foes, the Chelsea Blues, looking very poised to be the
ones to raise the Barclays shield at the end.
With Mauricio
Pochettino sporting his traditional and effective 4-2-3-1 formation and sending
his mortal trio of Kane, Alli and Heung- Min to cause havoc on Simon Mignolet
posts, at the end the Frenchman persevered for the win and clean sheet.
At the end, the
afternoon was to be exclusively to Liverpool’s front man Sadie Mane, as the Senegal
native really showed his value and mettle to score a double and send the
Lilywhites back to London in the negative.
As the match started
evenly between both sides looking to get in the scoreboard, the Reds suddenly
made a valuable play in the middle of the field that Firminho generated and
with a pass and beating Ben Davis and Eric Dier.
Sadio Mane who took a
cross shoot that Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris could not reach and hence the
first score of the match in the 16th minute sending the whole of
Anfield into a frenzy and giving the Reds the early lead.
The buck did not stop
there, as the same story was to repeat itself with an inspired and determined Sadio
Mane who was in the right place and time, after stealing the ball from a
distracted Eric Dier and once again, the Reds were on the run.
As the Reds by
playing like a band of brothers with Mane in the attack and in the run after
Diers misfit, Mane passed to Llalana and after his shoot rejected by Spurs
keeper Lloris and then Firminho shoot took a rebound that with grace Mane took
advantage for the 2-0.
This was an afternoon
for the man of the hour Sadio Mane and Hugo Lloris the Spurs keeper who became
the hero for the losing cause after keeping the Liverpool ace in check and
preventing him to extend his scoring to rout over his squad.
Despite the London Bunch,
several tries to get in the scoreboard, the Reds backfields persevere for the
win, considered a treasured one after experiencing a not so positive start in
this 2017 and for many the Liverpool squad was out of contention.
However, this win for
sure gives the Liverpool Reds a certain confidence to return to the chase of Premierships
first place and be within reach of first place with just ten points, indeed, a
shoot of confidence for the Liverpool bunch.
