Congratulations to the
Bhoys of Glasgow Celtic FC of netting their sixth league title in a row and its
48, since their inception 129 years ago as an all-around professional football
entity.
However the continuity
of the Celtic squad as a reigning champion and seeing it as a one way race for the
league title, shows off a no contest in its playing calendar and so far this is
getting old!
Despite the Boys from
Ibrox returning to the big circuit since their demotion from that embarrassing scandal, after that cup match were they beat
the Hoops in penalty’s, many thought this is it, the Old Firm Derbies won’t be
a one side show.
Wrong we were, as the
Celts were the dominators in the Scottish Premiership and with no single opposition
at all, as squads of the likes of Saint Johnstone, Aberdeen, Hearts and Rangers
not even came close in points.
This association is
seeing a repeat and becoming a bit dull, since there is not a two-way contest.
As I recall a coworker
of mine since my admiration to the Boys from Trafford is very notorious, he
used to state, boring, boring Man United since the Red Devils in those hey
days, the English Premiership was being a bit boring and repetitive with United
winning.
Still we see a
Chelsea and Citizens lately winning it all and it gives this league a sort of
variety, but not here in the Scottish Premiership League, that needs to get a
bit competitive in the upcoming campaign now that the Gers are back.
I know that the SPL
is not the EPL in size and especially, in its monetary potential as the English
squads have in its economical point of view and reach in monies to net the most
expensive players that give this association its all-around reputation and top headline
getter in the world.
As the SPL Derbies
that stand out in its Old Firm between its Glasgow giants not played for quite some
time, this campaign when the Gers returned to the grand circuit of Premiership,
many saw the return of this one of a kind contest.
Not a chance, with
five matches of this well know Derby between these squads, Celtic came ahead in
four matches were one they put a display of force with a 5-1 rout over the
Teddy Bears and these just rescue a point with a draw.
A one sided game and
no contest in favor for the Celtic Bhoys.
Still this Derby is
not the only competition that highlights this association, when we have the
Edinburg Derby between Hibernian and Hearts, with the Jam Tarts in the top
flight and Hibernian in Championship and within promotion to the top.
We may see the return
of these clashes return in next campaign, the Highland Derby between Ross
County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle, the problem that the Caley Thistle will
be going down to the ranks of Scotland’s championship league and this marks the
end of this derbies.
The other Derbies
Dundee United and Dundee, with this clashes bearing the name of this city in Scotland,
the United bunch is currently playing in the lower tier and their face offs
happen if they play one day in a cup match.
In addition to the Lanarkshire
Derby between Motherwell and Hamilton the first one going to play in
championship as well Hamilton Academicals being in the verge of salvation or following
their foes.
At the end, the arrival
at Ibrox, Glasgow to take over this squad and with the hopes of seeing a
contender in next campaign and maybe elevate the race to the top of the Scottish
Premiership.
As the man from
Portugal Pedro Caixinha to try to return the glory and all around contest in
the Old Firm Derbies and see a heated race to the top of the SPL in the next
and other campaigns, enough of this being a one squad show.
Scotland and its
league need to bring the best of these squads and making this association
return to its best days when many spoke of it very favorable and now it is a dull
contest in its championship with Celtic being its sole winner for quite some time.
