Suddenly in the
Danske Bank League of North Ireland, we have a tight race for this campaign shield,
which two time winners Crusaders FC are sweating to win their third consecutive.
This comes from certain
carelessness in their last matches and losing their comfortable lead.
With a preying
Linfield Blues within two points and two games left in the North Ireland Football
League, coming to its conclusion, the heat is on for both squads now going into
a race for the league utmost of prizes.
After the Crusaders tight,
win in this weekend over the Bannsiders of Coleraine at Seaview and with pending
matches against Ballymena United and closing the campaign with Glenavon.
The Hachetmen are
atop the overall league table with 84 points and looking forward to win their
next matches that can deliver their number three league shield consecutively.
In the case of the
Linfield Boys, Manager David Healy looking forward to break a league title
drought not won since the 2011-12 campaigns, now this is their chance for the unthinkable
of dethroning their cross-town foes.
Still for them with a
point of advantage from the Crues, these are aware that takes two to tango and
here in the next two matches, they can pray for a slip up from the Hachetmen
and wins over Coleraine and Clintonville.
These can seal the
deal with an all-around class and fight.
However we have a couple
of matches that anything can happen in this time for any of these squads, that
at the end one will be crown the NIFL champion and lifting the coveted Gibson
Cup that determines the champions of this association.
This weekend will be
a do or die situation for both squads looking forward to continue their winning
streaks and moving forward to their last league compromises that will determine
the champions once in for all.
A win for the Cures
and loss for the blues will be enough motives for the Seaside Boys to uncork
the bubbly, celebrate another achievement in winning their third shield
consecutively, and continue their mastery in the league of the North.
For one squad that has
won the most of shields in the North Ireland Premiership, the Linfield Blues
will be hoping for a loss from the Crues to be up a point in the table and wait
for results in the matches scheduled on the 29th.
A win in both and for
sure the Linfield Blues once again will return to their old winning ways in the
League of Northern Ireland with their 52nd shield from one of this league
oldest and successful of clubs.
For the Crues Manager
Stephen Baxter it is a do or die situation and for him winning is in his mind
as well his Boys looking for the league utmost of glories and deliver another
Gibson Cup to the halls at Seaview.
In the case of
Linfield Boss David Healy it’s a race to the top and as that Queen song states,
no time for losers and for them this is it, what they are looking for a return
to their winning ways and stop finishing second.
No favorites here, with
the heat on, both squads are ready to deliver come this April 22 and 29 these
dates will show us an all-around winner and league champions, will it be the Crues
or Blues, is the question.
