Happy and Blessed Saint Patrick’s Day, with the league of Ireland in its full activity this Friday March 16, the Premier League was in its full agenda and with several results that you must believe came from Ripley.
With five matches in all fronts, we start with the always disputed and excited Dublin Derby, this time staged by the visiting Saint Patrick Athletic going to the colossus of Tallaght Stadium to play the always-tough Shamrock Rovers.
I must state that this match considered as the match of the week and despite the finish with a lone goal, the outcome of it was not what the Saints manager had in mind after a match that in its full 77 minutes had the elements of a possible draw.
Shamrock Rovers 1, Saint Patricks’ Athletic 0
In Shannonside at Markets Field, the local Limerick FC Super Blues and the defending champions Cork City ended it up with a draw at one goal apiece, with the Super Blues scoring in the 18 via Billy Denehy.
However, in the 33 minute the score was even, after a clear foul inside the area to City Graham Cummins, Kieran Sadlier was the one to deliver the equalizer until the end of this match with the share of points.
Limerick 1, Cork City 1
In Oriel Park, the Lilywhites got the better part of this defensive match were they held for a total of 94 minutes against newcomer sensation Waterford looking forward to continue on tis winning ways.
The unfortunate side for Alan Reynolds side was in the 94 minute of injury time when an own goal via Gary Comerford put the score in favor of the boys of De Town and give three points of gold to Stephen Kenny and company.
Dundalk FC 1, Waterford FC 0
In Brandywell Stadium, the ones in attendance got a taste of another goal fest by its Candystripes repeating the dose now to a defenseless and troubled Bray Wanderers squad that in every performance they are showing their way to relegation.
With goals from Rory Paterson 15, Ronan Curtis 60, Aaron Mc Eneff 64, Ronan Hale 76 and David Hopkirk 87 to seal the win and in two back-to-back matches, seal a win via a goal rout. For the visitors in the 81 Sean Heaney broke the clean sheet.
Derry City 5, Bray Wanderers 1
In Dalymont Park at Phibsborough the local Bohemians and Sligo Rovers, got their share of the points and despite the local Gypsies were looking for the win this matchup ended with the share of a point for each squad.
With the Gypsies via Eoghan Stokes in the 28 minute putting ahead the Bohs, it was the Rovers David Cawley seven minutes later to put the score at one goal apiece in the first half.
As the second half gave way the Bohs Ian Morris opened the score in the 60 minute, but three minutes later, the Bit O’ Red via Adam Morgan put the match even till its end.
Bohemians 2, Sligo Rovers 2
