Hump Day highlights a busy MLS week


Just before the World Cup break, Major League Soccer scheduled a two-week break before its return to action on June 23. Still the action and drama of football with an all-around contest and finishes in several of its fronts highlighted a busy Hump Day week of football.

After seeing a comeback rally in one of these matches and one squad showing positive signs and out of their slump, one determined its positon as a dominant one in the Eastern Conference, as well the fall of one in every match played. 

Starting in the City of Mary and a slumping Montreal Impact hosting a troubled Orlando FC at Saputo Stadium in a battle of two squads looking forward to stop their skids, the local Le Gars got the better part of this match. 

With their star playmaker Ignacio Piatti, the Argentinian delivered a grand match and guiding his squad to a much deserved and needed win, the Impact scorers were Ignacio Piatti 5, and 92 minutes as well Orlando defender Amro Tarek Own goal 55’

In Mapfre Stadium at Columbus, the Crew saw the wrath of what is becoming one of the most competitive squads, featuring a potent attack in its initial eleven and entering their second year as the overall favorites to win it all.

With the Southern Boys of the Atlanta United, the arrival of Martino and company to these parts of the Midwest took the local crew by storm, with scores from Josef Martinez 30’ and Hector Villalba 82.

At BMO Field in Toronto, the local TFC and DC United staged a shootout that ended in a draw with the locals staging a comeback rally to put the score even for both squads and sharing the a point each. 
With DCU opening, the scores and taking an early lead through Yamil Assad 12’, Paul Arriola 17’, Darren Mattocks 45’ the visitors leading on the first half. The Second half saw a reaction from the local Reds Jonathan Osorio 56’, Victor Vazquez 64’, and Nick Hagglund 87’ to tie the match. 

Still the visiting DCU Boys managed to get what could been the go ahead goal by Yamil Assad in the 90’ minute but a determined and opportune Nick Hagglund delivered in the 92 on injury time to seal the tie. 

Toronto FC 4, DC United 4

Red Bull Arena saw how its bunch delivered another defeat over a decimated and troublesome Seattle Sounders, as the Emerald City Boys not seeing the light of how to stage a turnaround for the better.

For the local Red Bulls goals from Daniel Royer 37’ and Bradley Wright Phillips 52’ and a late from the visitors via Harry Shipp 87’, delivered a notable win for the Red Bulls at home.

In Dicks Sporting Goods Stadium in Commerce City, Colorado, the local Rapids despite their early lead these surrendered to the visiting Chicago Fire after their hard push these come back and settle for the draw. 

The Rapids scorers were Dominique Badji 7’ and Tommy Smith 15’ and for Chicago Danny Wilson OG and Aleksandar Katai 24’ to share the points in the Rocky Mountain State.

In the colossus of Silicon Valley Avaya Stadium, the local Quakes rescue a point against the visiting New England Revolution, after the locals opened the score via Danny Hoesen 17’. 

The comebacks from the Revolution staged by Diego Fagundez 31’ and Cristian Penilla 43’ to later see the score from the Quakes Danny Hoesen becoming the Quakes top scorer in the 51 for the tie.
