No surrender for The Town Boys

For Stephen Kenny and his Lilywhites there is no stopping them now, after recording another win now on the road, considered as one important achievement. As this win assures the Town Boys in the top with a slim lead in the top over the Rebel Army, that won today at home in Turners Cross.

With an opening goal by the home side in minute 4 by Dan Carr, the Hoops were looking to sealing the deal at home and with a notable win over the league leaders this would been their confidence booster.

Still the reaction by the visiting Dundalk squad became too evident of this squad ability to turn things around in the course of a match despite being down in the scoreboard.

That is what happened today in Tallaght, when the Town after being down on the scoreboard when their top striker Patrick Hoban scored the tying goal in the 37 minute and both squads going to intermission with the score tied at one goal apiece.

After the second half whistle blew, both squads went on the rampage of trying the break the deadlock and get ahead in the scoreboard, as the local Hoops saw their intentions going in vain when two of its players getting yellow cards in both halves.

However, in the 60 minute Daniel Cleary broke the deadlock in favor of the visiting Lilywhites going up in the scoreboard with a goal lead.

Not even four minutes passed by when the Town Dane Massey scoring the third goal for the visitors’ side in the 64 minute putting the scoreboard in their favor to 3-1.

All of a sudden, we had a fight from the home team when Roberto Lopes scored the Hoops second goal of the match and suddenly was making a turn for the best and turning it into an all-around contest and the score of 3-2.

As the local Rovers were suddenly back on the match and after their second goal scored in the minute 71, suddenly the visitors replied with a score on their own and in same minute 71 when Robbie Benson scored the go ahead goal.

Six minutes later the visiting Dundalk Boys scored the what became the insurance goal in the 77 minute via Robbie Benson seeing another wondrous performance and scoring a couple of goals for what became the final score of the match.

Suddenly the big guns of Dundalk are awakening and with such authority, as Stephen Kenny and company are seeing an overhaul intis offensive game that so far is showing off an arsenal in its initial elevens.

For the Shamrock Rovers this loss and skid his squad is going through is becoming a concern for its manager Stephen Bradley not finding the ideal formula to level his squad campaign and put a stop in their losing streak.

In addition, the Rovers missing Graham Burke and Ronan Finn, possibly these could make a difference but possibly, not when they faced a hardened Lilywhites squad.

For the Dundalk FC side this win is making this race to the league top a bit interesting and despite Cork City winning against Waterford today, these have a slim lead of two points over the defending champions.
