The Bit O’ Red staging a revival in League of Ireland

Saint Patricks Athletic 0, Sligo Rovers 3
Richmond Park, Inchicore, Dublin

That may be the case but for Gerard Lyttle looking forward to a consistent run in this edition of the League of Ireland with his Rovers. Tonight playing away at Inchicore colossus of Richmond Park, seeing how bunch delivered a valuable and opportune win.

The way his side his playing a great game of football but at times Luck is not on their side.

Suddenly seeing how the Pats are losing grip after starting to stage a comeback to their old winning ways, today not even playing as locals did not had with them and surrendered horribly to the visitors push with a clean sheet.

Ever since the get go and first half when the Portland Boys started mayhem with a goal from Patrick McClean in the 11 minute to open the score and leaving the whole of Richmond stunned after the locals first score.

Once gain in the first half when Sligo’s Alastair Roy put the Bit O’ Red with the go-ahead goal to give the visitors the lead and near sealing the deal with just 29 minutes in the clock, going inot halftime with a commanding 2-0 lead.

Leaving Liam Buckley and his bunch into a maze and no answers but with the hope that in the second half things will get a bit better for his struggling Saints and maybe stage a comeback rally for the delight of their supporters.

Unfortunately, in the course of both halves the local Pats did not stage any comeback but a few narrow escapes but in the case of the visiting Rovers putting their defensive game a step up a notch, at the end delivered in what seems to be a much valuable win.

Still the defensive fence put in by the Bit O’ Red never became a threat for their goalkeeper defending overzealously what became his coveted and much appreciated clean sheet playing away.

This win did not came easy as in the second half the pressure that the Pats started was in corners not taken well and the locals seeing their chances dwindling at the end with a suddenly stricken momentum Saints squads.

As in the 82nd minute, another miracle happened for the Sligo Boys happened with a Jack Keaney substitution on the 62 for Lewis Morrison became a one of a kind move by the visitor’s manager with this chap striking gold.

No stopping the visitors now and with minutes for this match to finalize but a bit out of reach for the locals to try a late revival and seeing how the visitors keeper Mitchell Beeney  recording a valuable performance.

This win places the Sligo bunch in seventh place with 23 points above the Bohs, Limerick and Bray Wanderers and within striking seven points from the Pats currently in sixth place, is the Bit O’ Red for real?
