Limerick 0, Shamrock Rovers 2
Markets Field, Limerick
For Stephen Bradley the manager of the Hoops is one happy man, after seeing his club suddenly delivering important if not valuable wins. The Shamrock Rovers are aiming to the league top three spots.
With a 2-0, win over a troubled visiting Limerick Super Blues, the Rovers once again are dreaming of seizing another European spot after seeing how Derry City, the Pats and Waterford slumps can be in their advantage.
This win puts the Dublin Boys tied in points with the Candystripes with 33 points, a percentage differential place the Shamrock Rovers in fourth place and within seven points striking distance of third position Waterford.
Still this match was one especial occasion for one of their departing players in Graham Burke that after his sensational participation with the national squad, his days in Tallaght numbered as he is going to Preston North End in England’s Championship League.
Being another member of the SSE to join the ranks of the Lilywhites in the promotion league and this squad being so close to participate in this association playoffs, this tells you a lot of a squad looking forward to make a run to for a chance to Premiership elite.
Returning to this match the Hoops now are burying the past and now focusing in the remainder of this campaign looking forward to return to the top spots, despite the heated battle between Dundalk and Cork City for the league top, these will take advantage of any opportunity.
As the way Limerick position in the table lately and fighting for tis survival and see the light of seeing another campaign in the League of Irelands Premiership.
For the Shamrock Boys delivering an important win on the road and despite their foe struggles in the table, this match was not promising to be a walk in the park for the Dubliners after the local’s manager made a few changes in his starting eleven.
Lately for the Super Blues manager tommy Barrett, looking forward to get his squad into the positive as well taking advantage of their conditions of playing as locals, the challenge was on for the Limerick Boys to deliver.
In addition, for Barrett to net positive results playing at home, todays was not one of those days, after his eleven suddenly taking charge and being a sort dominating to the visitors, these did not capitalized completely and the results speak for themselves.
The Hoops after taking control of the match and suppressing the locals surge, suddenly we had a score in the 45 minute when Joel Coustrain scored and the visitors going into halftime with the lead.
Still there was more to see from the visiting Hoops, after two minutes passed a nice shoot delivered by their departing superstar Graham Burke scoring in what became not only the game winner but go ahead goal in the 47’.
A win and a clean sheet away are somehow the work and initiative from this bunch looking forward to level their campaign for the better and returning to their old winning ways.
