Dundalk FC 4, Limerick FC 0
Oriel Park, Dundalk
There is no stopping the hot streaked Lilywhites of making a solid statement of their intentions of recovering the league top as well its shield. With a four goal, rout over a struggling Limerick FC coming to Oriel Park.
Among one of the most notable of performances was of current league golden boot leader Patrick Hoban delivering with a treble and sealing an important win.
After all last weekend in Oriel Park, we had the visit of Roy Keane observing the development of the game and with today’s show of force and mastery in the field by Hoban, the message cannot be clear to the Republic of Ireland high command.
With a little help and consideration from the Green Army manager Martin O’ Neill, should be side by side by the Hoops counterpart Graham Burke already with the national team and Hoban start getting the feel of international play.
So far, in the campaign matches have important connotations for manager Stephen Kenny looking forward to see his squad return to its old winning ways after last campaign disastrous run that saw them saying their goodbyes to the league shield.
A notable win comes from pure dominance and today the locals supported by a boisterous crowd at Dundalk colossus of Oriel Park the Town squad they had to do was just winning and did it in a convincing way.
Still the match had some moments for the visiting Super Blues, still after today’s loss these have to decipher many interrogatives of why this odd streak that is putting them on the brink of relegation despite being ahead of Bray Wanderers.
As the tale of the tape, shows a dominant Lilywhite squad that had fifteen shoots versus two of the visitors seeing their luck dwindle in both half’s when they were punish severely by an inspired Patrick Hoban.
Returning to today’s match the dominance of the locals was evident from the get go and for Patrick Hoban already making some efforts to beat the likes of the visitors goalkeeper Brendan Clarke unable today to put a stop to the scoring momentum of the locals scoring frenzy.
After an early arrival by Patrick Hoban in the 35 minute but Clarke denying him the effort, still this was not over for this chap in the 41 minute, once again the edge of the area became the best ally of Hoban to slam the first score of the match.
With halftime coming and the locals just managing to get a lone goal, and leading, the second half everyone to brace in Oriel for the Patrick Hoban show, immediate we saw the reaction of a determined Lilywhite squad.
Seeing several intents of goal by Robbie Benson, Krisztian Adorjan, Michael Duffy twice in a matter of ten minutes but not until the 66 minute when Patrick Hoban took a penalty kick and sending the home side ahead by a goal.
Once again, the combination of Robbie Benson not on target today but delivering when needed sent a pass to Krisztian Adorjan who sent a shoot that ended up in the top right corner, extending the lead for the Lilywhites now leading 3-0.
Today was to be the day Patrick Hoban delivered on the clutch with a hat trick in the 84 minute to deliver with a treble and the go-ahead goal that became the highlight of this week in the league of Ireland.
