Thank you very much
mighty PTFC for a one of a kind campaign filled with a lot of excitement and
top of the line football, despite the high and lows, but your all around
perseverance deliver us to a grand campaign.
After that great
start and later the slump due to annoying injuries that persisted all campaign
long with several players considered important in your lineup and still the persistence
seen in them was a reward to your faithful followers.
As perseverance and
the magic that manager Caleb Porter possesses and with his moves he delivers
with his initial eleven that look like he was playing his last match of chess
and why the moniker by yours very truly of the Cheesmaster.
For manager Porter every
campaign is a learning experience and getting more wisdom at the helm of his
club as a giant step for this club not only with a multiple following in Rose
City but in the whole Union with local chapters and with even a following abroad.
Yes, a friend of mine
in the Republic of Ireland calling himself a new die-hard fan in Ben McEneney a
chap from Dundalk and a fan of his Lilywhites now his following via Sky Bet
Sports in the Mother country of his Portland Timbers that before match day states
proudly Cmon De Timbers
That run all campaign
long despite the odd results and later the revival in some matches, were enough
of why many do sing praises of fools being in love with you as that Elvis song states
and this is a one of kind phenomenon seen in football circles by a loyal fan
base.
Still the loss to
Houston in game two of the semifinals of the postseason and the dominance this exercised
in the second half of the match do not leave the fans with a bitter taste but a
proud fandom that stands behind its boys win or lose.
With the right moves
and being on the right path, the Portland Timbers will continue delivering us
those one of a kind afternoons filled with excitement and lots of revelry in
the stands after seeing the efforts displayed in every minute by its Boys in
Green.
That’s why the post
to thank each one of these heroes in the field and of the field in every one of
those employees that make this organization a grand one in and out the field,
to the administrative, to ground crews, ushers , sellers and especially the
players.
As Diego Valeri
offered us, a MVP campaign filled with a consecutive scoring record, his
efforts shown in the field, along with Diego Chara, Darlington Nagbe, Sebastian
Blanco and David Guzman.
The efforts of Jake
Gleeson and later Jeff Attinella stepping up and making the Timbers box a safe
one with his one of a kind saves in each of his performances they offered us
every time in Providence Park and on the road.
For that, much
criticized defensive backfield that despite the injuries, these chaps stepped
up and with a situation that could been worst, at the end these deliver us
memorable afternoons in the backfield shutting down many top of the line offensive
attacks.
Liam Ridgewell, Roy
Miller, Alvas Powell, Zarek Valentin, Larry Mabbiala’s, Vytas Andreskevivious, Lawrence
Olum, kudos to your one of kind efforts to keep the opposing offenses at bay.
To those prospects
that made their way to the first team and to those who perform my amazement for
giving us your best and nothing, more than your pains that contributed to this
club success.
All of this chaps carrying
the squad.
Very well that great visionary
in Merritt Paulson and his great team that have made this squad and showing off
his class in every campaign and no exception in this one by putting his own money
to work to expand the colossus of Goose Hollow.
All in the name of
those fans that cannot make it to the matches due to lack of spots and now five
thousand seats more will bring more of those diehard followers the opportunity to
witness their beloved PTFC.
In addition, to close
this note, long live those diehard fans in the North, East, West and South sections
that make up the best fan base in league circles and an example in world
football following with their loyalty and high spirits since the beginning to
the end of every match.
The sunshine in the
stands the whole of Portland fans that rain or shine won’t stop in their ways
of being in open defiance of the elements to camp out overnight till game day,
that's support.
Thanks Portland
Timbers!
