What a match for Andy
Carroll that delivered when it matter the most for his Hammers, as this edition
of a much disputed London Derby, between two squads looking for their salvation
and permanency in the ranks of Premiership.
With West versus West,
the tables were set in a busy calendar in Premiership with two of these squads
battling the demons of relegation and every point counts for them as the start
of the second half being under way.
Oh yes, this is it
for any squad not taking advantage of the opportunities these get until the end
of another contested edition of Premiership.
If we stated that David
Moyes is one happy chap you are right indeed, with three points and another win
in his side, now is time to start looking forward to plan for a successful second
half and take advantage of any point available to save his Hammers.
As the Scotsman
finally started seeing the plus side of winning and with a couple since his
arrival at London Stadium after taking over the Irons, suddenly the followers
of this club have a reason to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
In addition, another
highlight of this match was for Andy Carroll breaking a scoring slump that
since April of last year he did not score, with this double not only he got his
sense back in scoring but also uplifting his squad towards a much needed and
valuable win.
Not only Carroll
played a wondrous match of football but his whole bunch delivering a grand match
and mounting a comeback rally that gave a lift of confidence to this group struggling
and finally are looking serious in their game.
Still one thing David
Moyes will like to see continuously from his side is consistency and never gives
up on their quest of looking forward to their salvation and possible a more decorous
finish maybe among the top ten squads.
With a match that
started with the Albion Boys opening the hostilities with an early goal that
caught the locals defense and its keeper Adrian off guard and it’s when the
Baggies on a play from Solomon Rondon passing to a well-placed James Mc Clean.
As Mc Clean opening
goal in the 30 minute as this goal was a reward to the visiting Throstles had
the lead taking advantage of the locals defensive overlaps and paying the consequences
by seeing the visitors going into halftime with the lead.
This affair was far
from over and whatever did the Scotsman did in the dressing rooms to rally his
troops was evidently shown in the second half when the West Ham bunch started generating
a series of plays that started their comeback.
Nothing like the hard
work and persistence in the field shown by the locals Manuel Lanzini and Andy Carroll
looking forward to open up the score for their Hammers, not only one or two
times he attempted to beat the likes of Ben Foster posts.
Do not call Carroll a
quitter, as his stubbornness put in evidence in the course of the second half
when a connection between him and Aaron Creswell became a golden one in the 59
minute, by passing on the left side that Carroll connected for the equalizer.
This goal sent the
whole of the colossus of London into frenzy and equalizing the game, seeing in
a way not bad for any of the managers of maybe getting their fair share of the points.
After the equalizer
both squads became embroiled in a back-to-back shooting duel and both squads
missing on their targets, it was on the 94 minute on injury time when the
unexpected happened.
However, the opportune presence
of Andy Carroll being in the right place and time on right side of the field
pushed the ball in what became the go-ahead one and the game winner in the end.
At the end, this win moves
West Ham out of the relegation spots and into sixteenth place with twenty points
and single point lead over Stoke City and four away from Swansea and West Brom
but on Thursday these have a match against Totteham.
