Bray Wanderers looking for a stellar and prolific 2018

Forget the past and the disastrous 2017 the Bray Wanderers squad lived this past 2017, with internal problems that threatened to dismantle this squad after displaying a one of a kind and promising campaign.

This squad after netting important wins against squads of the likes of Dundalk FC, Shamrock Rovers, Saint Patrick Athletic and Derry City that brought the prospect of seeing a European finish.

Ever since the last matches, of 2016 the Seagulls showed their potential to compete into the next campaign with a squad filled with many experienced and young players filled with talent to front in a contested campaign.

For this campaign, the Seagulls do not have the services of manager Harry Kenny and substituted by Dave Mackey that one of his ultimate goals will be to avoid relegation, make a decent run in cup competition, as a shield will be a highlight for this squad.

Also to echo their beginning of the campaign run that uplifted this squad among the top four and dreaming of a European spot that the end the problems this club had this club ended up selling some of its stellar players.

Still on the eve of a new campaign, the directive of this club announced the re- signings of Connor Kenna, Hugh Douglas, John Sullivan, Per Gender and top rated player in Gary McCabe, despite losing Keith Buckley to Bohemians.

On the other side, the new arrivals to Carlisle Grounds are Dylan Hayes- Bohemians, Paul O’ Connor- Saint Patrick Athletic, Sean Haney- Shamrock Rovers, Jake Kelly- Longford Town and Darragh Gibbons- Shamrock Rovers.

With the return of last campaign base and the newcomers, first year man David Mackay will have a squad to be an all-around contender and maybe be the surprise of the tournament with a notable finish among the top three.

Being their first test of fire for this club will be on the fourth round of the Leinster Football Association Cup against repeat rivals in Saint Patrick’s Athletic for the third time consecutively.

At the end, the sudden departure of Kenny saw assistant Dave Mackay promoted to team manager and with an extensive 30 years of experience under his arm as a player, coach and manager, the club will be highly benefited and competitive on this 2018 campaign.

So far preparing the team for the upcoming campaign and opening training camps will be one arduous task Mackay will experience a first as the big squad manager and his hopes are pinned in a player or two more to reinforce his attack.

After his appointment on St. Stephens Day, this may be a good omen for the Seagulls to display of a prolific and successful campaign ahead with their new manager and staff to overwhelm last campaign disappointing campaign filled with inconveniences.
