Derry City looking for the league top spots

The outlook for the Boys of Derry City in this 2018 is a promising one ahead on the eve of another contested campaign in the SSE Airtricity League of Ireland..

Therefore, for the club directives under the orders of manager Kenny Shiels, these have been hard at work to build an all-around contender and reinforce the club to deliver a one of a kind campaign.

Among one of the priorities for manager Shiels are to make a decent run in league play and looking forward to a notable finish, to not only the top three spots but also going for the league shield.

Very well adding to the cause if these can deliver amazing performances in cup play, maybe we can see a trophy or two coming to the halls in Brandywell Stadium.

So far, the arrivals of new faces to Lone Moor Road in Derry are to reinforce this club game primarily in its attack as well looking forward to boost its offense and defense as well.

With some remarkable signings, the Candystripes have their men in the Republic of Ireland international U-21 promises Rory Hale and Jamie McDonaugh, along with American Conor Agnew and Scotsman David Hopkirk.

These four considered a solution in one area in need of much needed attention and in a game lacking an attack as this foursome will deliver and resolve any issues being of utmost importance for this squad manager.

Another area that squads always reinforce is its defensive backfield with former Saints Gavin Peers and Galway United Swedish Armin Aganovic, these two will provide the defensive might this club was looking for.

In addition, another prospect that Derry City is counting heavily and looking forward to revive his once promising career is with forward John Cofie once touted by Manchester United at age 14 and later move on to Antwerp United.

Still for manager Kenny Shiels looking forward to many memorable afternoons by Coffie in the frontal attack of the Candystripes and who knows if he revives his career as one of the club leading scorers.

With all of the newcomers, in what this club manager describes as an ideal fit into this club style of play and adding a new dimension to their game elevating the possibilities of being in the top of the league overall table.

Derry City is looking forward to start competing in the top spots with the likes of Shamrock Rovers, Dundalk FC and the defending champions Cork City a task seen as bold and ambitious for this club.

A club that is so far in business thanks in its majority to the push of a top of the line fan base so dedicated and supporter owned, by far this club fan base has been regarded as the top in league circles thanks to their unmeasurable support.

With no doubts, I see in Derry City a club fighting its way to the top of the overall table and with a little luck they can finish in the top of the league as well see some trophies coming to its halls as a reward to this club all around efforts.

This club is up and ready to show that the Cumann Peile Chathair Dhoire is up and ready!
