With a one of a kind match shown by the likes of Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum returning to the starting eleven, and Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp giving the captaincy to his trouble defender Dejan Louvren.
The strategy worked wonders for the German skipper alongside of playing at home were his squad has a chant of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and today the Merseyside initial eleven played with an all-around inspiration throughout the ninety minutes.
Still playing a squad of the likes of Man City with an unstoppable run and with several squads in Premiership not being able to decipher or maintain the game that the Sky Blues display with such amazement and has made them a sort of invincible.
Today that status ended with an inspired and offensive minded Liverpool that too played a wondrous game of defense sans their recently acquired million pounds man Virgil Van Dyk not being in the starting eleven.
The foursome that defended the backfield of the Reds was Joseph Gomez and Andrew Robertson in the sides as center backs Dejan Louvren and Joel Matip were to protect the likes of a starting goalkeeper Lorious Karious.
In past matches, one of the weaknesses the Liverpool bunch had was its defensive side and now suddenly this squad backfield has become a bit stronger and more consistent in standing their ground and today the Reds backfield delivered despite the visitor’s furious comeback.
Especially stopping a Citizens attacking machine with Sergio Aguero, Leroy Sane and for Raheem Sterling, these trio seen in various Premiership circles as one lethal and dangerous one, not today and totally annulled.
Going back to the match with both squads whenever they had the ball they did took their opportunities serious and looking forward to open the scoreboard, the local Reds were the ones to open it to a frantic Kop.

Do not call the visitors lame or defenseless as their reaction via a lone play on the right side of Liverpool backfield culminated as a goal driven Leroy Sane shook his defenders in Joseph Gomez and Joel Matip for the visitor’s equalizer in the 40.
After the break with both squads arrivals and intents of goal, as Salah, Mane and Firminho from the locals were desperately looking to break the deadlock and for the visiting side Sane, Ottamendi, De Bruyne were doing the same.
Still the afternoon belonged to the hard fighting and hungry Liverpool Reds via their manager Jürgen Kloop wanted to show their mettle and demonstrated that they can play at anyone’s level, and they showed it with an all-around authority.
As every goal scored by Liverpool was hard fought in every intent, when Roberto Firminho getting the ball from the Ox to score in a nice bouncer breaking the deadlock in the 59 minute for the 2-1and giving the locals the lead.
After another try of Mane that hit the left post two minutes, later the moves performed by Mohamed Salah, passing to an open Sadio Mane shoot that made him a firm believer and retuning form as a scorer and give the lead to 3-1 in the 61.
Eight minutes passed and once again, errors took the Manchester City goalkeeper by surprise when the one and only Mohamed Salah intercepted his clearance and showing his brilliance as a striker, he sealed the deal in the 68 for the 4-1.
Not over and especially for the Man City Boys known for their stunning comebacks and these surely try their best to at least tie the match with two back-to-back scores in the 84 with Bernador Silva and later on injury time Ilkay Gundogan via a pass from Sergio Aguero.
The Sky blues were on the verge of a furious comeback until the Liverpool defense stood strongly and denying the visitors the pleasure of a total comeback and being the spoilers in the Kop seen as a branch of a madhouse.
The win puts the Reds in third place above the Chelsea Blues with 47 points and adding the points, if the Citizens start a meltdown and the Reds maintain their successful run we may have a contest in the end, despite the thriller and frantic finish Kloop and company prevailed.
