The LA Galaxy looking forward to return to contention

After experiencing one of its most disastrous campaigns ever since their inception to Major League Soccer, the LA Galaxy is looking forward to put 2017 behind them and return as a total contender.

Ever since being one of the original squads since the foundation of Major League Soccer, this is the fourth time the Galaxy has missed the postseason.

For Sigi Schmidt coming in the middle of the campaign in relief of fired manager Curt Onalfo, despite having a winning touch, at the end he could not turn around this club in what seemed a tough campaign for the Tinsel Town Boys.

In addition, of having a decent roster and initial eleven, with Giovanni Dos Santos and later reunited in the middle of the campaign with his brother Jona Dos Santos, not even these could uplift the team above the cellar.

With a team, we are accustomed to hear about stellar players coming to play in Carson, California, this time manager Schmidt is betting on experience and keeping the most notable players along with the newcomers to make a top notch run.

That is one of the first steps for manager Schmidt is to mix experience with youth and for the newcomers will be a task of adapting to his game scheme in order to build a contender and make a return to the postseason.

After examining the results of last campaign, for Schmidt one of his utmost priorities was to reinforce his defensive backfield, as this position became one of its most vulnerable by the opposing strikers.

Among one of his first steps were to add to his defensive side and reinforcing with experienced and more defensive prone goalkeepers, the arrival of David Bingham from San Jose Quakes and Bryan Silvestre from the Philadelphia Union.

Adding more depth and combing experience with youth, the idea for manager Schmidt is to create a healthy competition between his keepers in order to assure a more secure defense of its posts.

Coming back to reinforcing the defensive backfield, the club gave an extension to their veteran Ashley Cole and with three new faces to add to the existing defender core from last campaign.

With the incorporation of players with an extensive international background in Cardiff City and Venezuela native Rolf Feltscher, Montenegro Emrah Klimenth- Sacramento Republic and Norway Jorgen Skjelvik.

The La squad went to the troubles of adding European and Latin American talents to make their defensive backfield a fortress and become of the top rated defenses in the league per Sigi Schmidt utmost of goals.

In the midfield the incorporation of Orlando City midfielder and a man with an extensive experience in Major League circles, Servando Carrasco along with Perry Kitchen are to highlight another area of need in the midfield.

As many other names are in the LA Galaxy orbits, especially if they find a notable forward and add to their midfield and defensive core, the American version of Los Galacticos will be a team to beat and contend even for the league shield.

Alongside of being ready and in tune to front in what seems a new challenge with their cross-town neighbors the LAFC that will be highlight of this 2018 campaign in the so-called Classico.

First things first as the Tinsel Town Boys are in need to improve their game and give their campaign a radical turn in order to be a much better and more competitive to occupy the top spots in the Western Conference.
