A recap of a tie in Brandywell, with a race to the top within a point

For Cork City and Derry City ending in a stalemate but in what seemed to be the most disputed matches of the week, as the Lilywhites gained after a close win at home. For the newcomers Waterford sharing points with the Hoops, still these are within three points of the top.

So far the league of Ireland has not seen a contested race between three squads with the Rebel Army, The Town and newcomer Blues, we are brace a very exciting and fought off campaign in this 2018 edition.

In Dublin Town in its colossus of Tallaght the local Shamrock Rovers welcomed the likes of recently promoted and surprising Waterford coming with the label of all around favorites to deliver against a struggling Rovers.

With an early goal by the visitors via Gavan Holohan in the 38 minute, the local Hoops using their home field advantage and supporters backing, these came from behind to rally with the tying goal in the 74 minute by Graham Burke and share of points.

Shamrock Rovers 1, Waterford 1

In Markets Field at Limerick, the local Super Blues after displaying a marvelous afternoon of football, experiencing in what seemed to be the agony of defeat by a visiting and hot streaked Saints recording lately back-to-back wins.

The difference maker and game winning goal came in the 72 minute by a beautiful strike by Ryan Brennan recording his eleventh score of the campaign for a valuable win away for Liam Buckwell and company.

Limerick 0, Saint Patrick’s Athletic 1

In Oriel Park a fortunate and inspired Lilywhites striker in Patrick Hoban who delivered with a double in the 23 and 88 minutes 1 via penal and before the edn of the first half the Bit O’ Red scored via another penalty from Rhys McCabe in the 45 minute.

Still for the Stephen Kenny and company despite wasting many scoring opportunities his Boys Hoban came in the clutch to score the game winner and deliver three points of gold to be within a point of league leader Cork City.

Dundalk 2, Sligo Rovers 1

In Brandywell the Derry City Boys facing the defending champions Cork City in what seems to be a very contested match despite the stalemate at zero goals and the players from both sides to endure the share of points.

For the Candystripes this is another match that they let go points and have to console with a draw and for John Caulfield and company to endure a not so glamorous draw away and surrendering three points lead.
