Newcastle United returning to its old glamour

Newcastle United 3, Chelsea FC 0
Saint James Park, Newcastle

What a day the faithful in the Toon lived after their Geordies delivered a humiliating repass against the former league champions Chelsea Blues. In their last match of the campaign, Rafael Benitez and company deliver mayhem.

As Ayotze Perez scoring a double and Dwight Gayle opening the score, the Magpies after getting a number of opportunities and missing, this affair would end with a high score.

Still a win is a win and today the dominance exhibited by the local Toon Army and mastery over the former defending champions Chelsea, todays exhibit put a bitter goodbye to their departing manager Antonio Conte.

At the end, the man delivered and now for the team directives, especially its owner Mike Ashley is time to decide about the Spaniard future who he will like for him to have him for a lengthy stay and with all the support with all the labor for next campaign.

Because the ideals of Ashley is the return of Newcastle United to the top spots and this campaign with tenth place and finishing with 44 points we can say about this club improvement’s and accomplishments as immense.

Being among the headliners and top competitors were among the goals fulfilled by Benitez , despite having such a feeble budget to reinforce its ranks, still the man did his work in promoting the team to Premiership and now settling it among the top ten.

A year can go as water in your hands as the Spaniard manager of the Geordies is not committed to an extension but maybe the way he can put another spectacular campaign and a return to Europe can be a more lucrative deal in the Toon.

Getting back to today’s match, with a low esteem and lack of a more dynamic attack in its game, the Blues put on a fight but not enough to counter the attacks and arrivals at Courtois posts and beating their defense exposing the lack of confidence.

So far in the tale of the tape were the locals exercise total dominance in possession and direct shoots at goal with six versus two of the visitors and 16 versus the Pensioners 6, at the end for Conte and company exposing a doubtful efficiency?

As in the 23 minute, after several tries at goal and arrivals, the Magpies put the first goal in the scoreboard with a rebound that Courtois tried to clear and landing in Dwight Gayle head to push the ball for the first score.

So in the second half a combination of Jonjo Shlevey and Ayote Perez, the locals were sealing their win as the second goal was scored in the 59 minute and later in the 63 minute Florian Lejeune pass to the Spaniard to seal the deal.

Ending in a high note was the idea for Rafael Benitez as well among the safety zones despite his squad struggles early in the campaign  and overcome the odds and with work and the limited resources the man play his magic and voila the final results.

Now back to the drawing board in what he needs to deliver a European spot next campaign as well a trophy or two that can highly praise his work ever since his arrival at Tyneside, by far the man has restored a winning pride in the Toon.

Still the question is if he and Mike Ashley are on the same page and share the same vision for this club success in the end, this are many questions ahead of why Mr. Benitez has not set his sights in Tyne- Wear.
