Dundalk retuning to its old self and grand style

Bohemians 0, Dundalk 2
Dalymont Park, Dublin

What a display of great football these Lilywhites put on at Phibsborough after shutting down the local Gypsies in what seemed a one sided match. The Town Boys are playing a top of the line football that has suddenly emerged as the league overall leaders.

With a two-goal rout over the local Bohemians, Stephen Kenny and company entered another win extending it to a three game winning streak.

Ever since the get go the visitors started making their moves and in the 4th minute with a combination of Michael Duffy recently showing off why he was named recently player of the month After getting a pass from Sean Hoare’s. These two set up the table for Patrick Hoban that deliver the visitors first goal and with just minutes of this match for his twelve score in the campaign.

Still give credit to an inspired Sean Hoare who came with an all-around determination and inspiration that lead to the Lilywhites go ahead goal in the second half, in the 83 minute and seal the deal for another win.

By the way, the lads of Stephen Kenny are playing lately and despite their two-point lead over last campaign winners Cork City this race to the top is getting all the elements of a much-contested affair in the course of this campaign.

As the Rebel Army winning today against a struggling Bray Wanderers squad that was completely blank and despite the Lilywhites dominance in the course of the game, their keeper Gary Rodgers stepped up to maintain his clean sheet.

So far, these Town Boys are playing like their old days, all of a sudden, manager Kenny is implementing his game to the new faces after the departure of key players, and once again, these are putting on a fight that can deliver.

For the Dundalk despite showing off a marvelous game and dominance, still these had a close scare when Dinny Corcoran almost beat Dundalk keeper Rodgers but the man experience was his best defense to deny the locals what could been the equalizing goal.

Still for Dundalk missing a good number of opportunities in both halves, is something that manager Kenny will have to correct before their Monday’s match at home in Oriel Park against Waterford that lately has been dropping notable points.

At the end, this was a grand match for both sides’ players looking forward to show off their skills and notable game to impress the Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’ Neill in attendance in Dalymont Park. As his staff and Roy Keane to observe accompanied the North Irelander, what Airtricity will offer in the future for his national team readying for the next Euro qualifiers.

For the Boys of Dundalk netting an important and prolific result against a hardened and streaking Bohemians was to consider it as an all-around achievement ahead of their Monday compromise with just a couple of days rest.
