Huddersfield sealed its immobility from Premiership

What a way to close the campaign for David Wagner and his Terriers, after sealing their permanency in Premiership with a draw at Stamford Bridge. As todays match, the German Boss and his side felt this draw like it was a win.

Still it did not come easy, as these Pensioners are one hardened group looking to deliver with a win a chance to catapult the likes of Liverpool for the last Champions League spot, unfortunately this result did not come.

As todays draw for Antonio Conte and company felt like a pail of cold water.

One by the hard fighting and defiant Terriers looking at all time for the win or the way to deliver another point that would made the difference in the relegation race these were embroiled in and today did it.

With an early goal by the visitors playing a marvelous defensive game of football lately as last match, these drew against the league champions Manchester City art zero goals and today these struggling squad did it again with another tie and to the defending champions.

Do not count the defending champions out as these started making all sorts of moves and early advances towards the posts defended by Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl who of today earned his pay after being so effective defending overzealously his arches.  Very well being so alert in stopping the arrivals of Marcos Alonso, Willian, and Antonio Rudiger this latter one missing in close range what could be the opening goal.

Not even Cesc Fabregas in a free kick could convert as well a couple of near plays by Alvaro Morata could break the deadlock before halftime going into halftime with both squads in deadlock and a promise of seeing a more contested second half.

A total domination performed today by Chelsea in the first half and not taking advantage as well for Conte not putting in the starting lineup the likes of Oliver Giroud and Eden Hazard.

However, the Terriers were to open up the scoreboard with a nice play created by its creator by Laurent Depoitre in 50th minute with a nice turnaround and beating the keeper and a Chelsea defender he just elevated the goal and voila, Huddersfield lead.

Still the Blues pressuring and with a strange deflection by Marcos Alonso inside the area the Terriers lead was erased in the 62 minute but after the tying goal these managed to persevere defensively and not allowing the locals to exercise any dominance.

With back-to-back ties and share of points, this gives a total sum of 37 points for the David Wagner and company as well atop Southampton and in the safety zone as many of the Chelsea followers in Fulham could not make up the celebrations of the visiting squad.

Today’s result for Huddersfield assures them of a return to next campaign to Premiership and this tie sentences Swansea to Championship League and the abyss of relegation and for Wagner a sort of stating mission accomplished.
