The Pats determined to a return to its old glories

Saint Patrick’s Athletic 2, Sligo Rovers 0
Richmond Park, Dublin

With a rare Tuesday night match scheduled in the Airtricity League of Ireland, the Pat extended their winning streak at the colossus of Inchicore at Richmond Park. This match was the Saints and Bit O’ Red staging a much-contested affair as both squads looking for three golden points.

That Tuesday night match in Dublin were the visiting Sligo Rovers looking forward to cut their odd streak and going against a momentum ridden Pats playing as locals, giving the capitol Boys a slight advantage of netting a positive result.

Still after seeing a much contested match and especially in its first half were both squads went to intermission with a deadlock of zero goals, the second half looked like a total challenge for both squads.

Not only the Saint Patrick’s Boys delivered a grand win but extended their unbeaten run and this result, puts them even with 27 points tied in fourth place with Derry City whom they play in this coming Friday and see the outcome.

Still there is a lot of work for Liam Buckley and company if these would like to see themselves back in the top spots of the league after last campaign disastrous run that almost netted them into relegation.

Returning to this match with all the elements of a disputed affair as in the 51-minute finally the scoreboard lighted up with a score from Dean Clarke after a startup play by Simon Madden and Thomas Byrne that led to the Pats first goal.

The second after the Pats Jake Keegan upended in the box giving way to a penalty that Thomas Byrne converted in the 90 minute for want became the go-ahead goal for the local Inchicore Boys and now looking to Derry City at Inchicore.

As this squad aims are to continue delivering notable results and move up the table to assure a European spot as this group is very serious of making this campaign a prolific one as well for manager Buckley to deliver a shield or two.

For the local Pats, that Tuesday night all around performance and total mastery of their foes the Rovers was the work instituted for longtime manager Liam Buckley to make this squad a contender and not a sorry entity.

The outlook of these Pats squad is to continue their work ahead of what seems to be a much-contested campaign in the top five spots of Airtricity and for all its squads that the Dublin Boys will need to fight.

So far, with a surprising Waterford and Derry City in the way the aims of getting among the top three will be a total challenge seen as tough but not difficult for the Inchicore side looking forward to see a return to its old glory days when they won the league and several cups.
