No gain and a spoiler for Waterford in Carlisle Grounds

Bray Wanderers 2, Waterford 2
Carlisle Grounds, Bray
At home is where the Seagulls can deliver results towards their salvation. So far, in the campaign, the Bray Wanderers have just won a couple of matches and these have been at home in Carlisle Grounds.

With the surprise in this edition of the Airtricity League of Ireland, Waterford was looking for a positive result after their draw at Tallaght, Alan Reynolds and company were looking at any cost a win, a valuable one.

Unfortunately, this did not came once again, as the Blues again saw a share of points with the league worst and prone to relegation squad, as they are in need to strengthen their confidence when they play away.

As the home field, advantage for the Gulls became evident when Daniel Mc Kenna opened the score for the visitors with just three minutes in the game and looking like they were riding with an all-around momentum.

Still these were playing with one of the most motivated and determined of crews in the Waterford crew, despite being newcomers after their promotion and playing like an experienced crew and so far in the hunt for the top.

After their tie last Friday in Dublin, Reynolds and company were sure to hit on the spot with a win away and against one of the worst squads in the league, the odds of a sure win was within reach. Still do not count your chickens before they hatch or underestimate your foe.

In addition, of the local squad delivering with the first score, these held the lead before the end of the first half when the Blues hit on target with Paul Keegan scoring in the 43 and going to halftime with a game tied at one goal apiece.

The return of the second half was to see a much-contested affair and indeed, we had a much-disputed affair between these two looking forward to a much valuable win that could serve for both delightfully.

Still the Waterford boys are known in this campaign not to quit, with Courtney Duffus getting pass the Bray defensive blockade and scored in the as they scored in the 69 minute what look like the winning goal and taking a notable win away.

I do give the local Bray side the credit for keeping both Ismail Akinade and Bastien Hery at bay and as far from the posts defended by Evan Moran that despite getting two scores from the visiting Blues he his defenders really stepped up, preventing a goal rout.

As the time was winding down the pressure of the local Gulls was increasing so the nervousness from its defensive backfield that in the Watford area the arrival of Dan Kelly into the area and a slip from Blues defender Darren Webster.

That lead to a Lawrence Vigoroux trip over Kelly and to the unthinkable when Bray Gary McCabe held it together and deliver on the spot to deliver a grand goal and a spoiler in the end for the visiting Waterford Boys.

At the end both squads share the points but this tie for Waterford felt like a loss and now trailing Dundalk who came victorious today by four points and Cork City by just two, still there is the opportunity of a regroup.
