The Matias Almeyda era to start in San Jose


The San Jose Earthquakes found their man to lead the destinies of the Silicon Valley side with former Mexican giant Chivas and once touted manager of the Mexican National Team in Argentinian Matias Almeyda.

For the Quakes front office, enough was enough after seeing their club not making a trip to the postseason and spite of their participation in 2017 and early elimination, 2018 considered one disastrous season. 

With Matias Almeyda the aims of this club is to return its winning tradition back as well return this historic club to a more competitive and fight for the top spots in the Western Conference.

As stated earlier the man from Argentina made an all-around statement with one of Mexican League most followed and traditional of squads in Chivas Rayadas of Guadalajara winning a number of important hardware. 

Among his accomplishments with Chivas were League Shield in 2017, Copa MX 2015 and 2017, Supercopa MX 2016 and CONCACAF Champions League 2018 by beating Toronto FC along winning in his native Argentina two-second division shields. 

So far, the Quakes front office has been busy with the acquisition of new players, the arrival of midfielder Judson- Tomboense, Forward Cristian Espinoza- Villarreal, defender Marcos Lopez- Sporting Cristal and goalkeeper Daniel Vega-Tampa Bay Rowdies.

For manager Matias Almeyda looking forward to a prolific campaign with his Goonies will be one of his utmost of plans in incorporating his new players with the current base he inherited from last in a squad that promise a lot. 

In addition for the Andean to bet on this club future and making some impactful signings in Major League Soccer Superdraft, the future of the Quakes is shaping into one interesting and filled with a lot of promise. 

With just three players selected in the drat the San Jose squad is betting on players from Generation Adidas in midfielder Siad Haji, along with Seattle University midfielder Sergio Rivas and Simon Fraser University forward Mamadi Camara.

However, the work for manager Matias Almeyda will not be an easy one as he is looking forward to see this squad step up on its defensive game as well in its attack, after a squad that finish with a depressing record.

By finishing in last place of the Western Conference with a record of 4 wins, nine ties and 21 loses with 49 goals in favor but 71 goals against, exposing a crisis in this squad defensive backfield that for manager Almeyda mission is to improve this area.

In addition to boost, the offensive game of this squad, the goals for manager Matias Almeyda is to conform a winner as well return the confidence lost by creating a new dynamic in the Quakes game and institute a new winning chemistry in the Bay area.

This is a team to follow very closely in the course of this upcoming 2019 campaign and see what can of impact will MLS style will expose to the Quakes new man in their helm, there is one way to find out in the end.
