Recap of the Danske Bank Premiership with a hot streaking Linfield


How about those Linfield Blues playing one amazing game of football lately, earning them a spot in the top and putting three points lead over suddenly troubled Ballymena United not able to get a win over the Swifts. 

However, the heat is on for the Blues, as this is not over yet and seeing a contested months ahead and January seeing the best game from all its participants displaying their best game and looking forward to make a run at least to the top three spots. 

So far, the race for the top intensifies with another squad running on the plus with the defending champions Crusaders FC silently stating their case and within three points of the current league leaders Linfield. 

The Sky Blues are somehow having some defensive issues or troubles after letting their lead slipping two times against a feeble Swifts side coming to the Showgrounds and finishing the game with ten men. 

For Ballymena United opened the scoreboard in the first half from Jude Winchester 41’ minute going to intermission with the lead, later in the 75’ Cathair Friel for Swifts Daniel Hughes 63’ and Olsin Smyth.

Ballymena United 2, Dungannon Swifts 2

Five was enough for the Reds of Cliftonville after stopping their losing streak finally against a decimated Ards coming to Solitude Park to get some help in their quest for salvation. 

With scores from Ryan Curran 31’, Conor McMenamin 63’, Rory Donelly 70’ and Joe Gormley 80’ for the visitors they tied the match via a penal in the first half from Darren Henderson 43’. 

Cliftonville 4, Ards 1

In the Showgrounds of Coleraine the local Bannsiders share the points against the Lurgan Blues with one goal apiece with Eion Bradley 20’ minute for the locals and in the second half the Niall Grace 50’. 

Coleraine 1, Glenavon 1

Back at Brandywell the local Institute side saw its positive run coming to an end at home with the visiting Glentoran Boys coming to town and netting an important win with a clean sheet. 

The scores from the Glens came with Elliot Morris 11’ minute and later in the second half sealed the deal for the visitors via Paul O’ Neill 87’ minute netting an important win on the road.

The Showgrounds at Newry City the locals lost by the minimum difference from a lone and early goal by the visiting Crues David Cushley in the 6’ minute to seal the win and continue their run towards the league top.

This win ties the defending champions Crusaders FC with Ballymena United in second place with 50 points and looking forward to catapult to first place with a Linfield stumble in the upcoming months.

In Windsor Park the local Linfield Blues continue on cementing their place on the league top and with three points lead, thanks to a treble by Jordan Stewart who sentenced the match in the end for the Belfast side. 

With scores from Jordan Stewart in the 41’, 58’ P and 83’ plus Andrew Waterworth adding the final touch in the 80’ minute to rise for the win and continue on their positive run.
