Under Declan Devine Derry City can rise to the occasion

For this upcoming 2019 campaign in the SSE Airtricity League of Ireland, the Red and White Army under their new operate in the helm, Declan Devine, he’s looking forward to make this club as an all-around contender.

So far, for Declan Devine he has made one of his utmost priorities of building this squad as a fortress and a frontrunner to face in what looks to be another contested edition in the League of Ireland.

After winning League of Ireland Cup in 2018 or better known as EA Sports Cup under former manager Kenny Shiels, in the end a series of odd results and a not so notable eight-place finish- the club made its moves for a new man in its helm.

However, the club in this campaign after seeing an exodus of some players to the NIFL with Rory Hale and Gerard Doherty moves to Crusaders, Aaron McEnneff- Shamrock Rovers, Ben Doherty end of loan to Glenavon, Sam Todd to Finn Harps, Ben Doherty to Coleraine and Darren Cole going either to Sligo or Linfield.

The need to build this squad from the bottom up is among one of manager Devine utmost of priorities being its importance to build up a solid defense and make its offensive attack as one of the most dynamic.

By setting up many goals and plans to seize a European spot as well, make a finish in the league top three spots of the overall table if not seeing the possibility of netting the coveted league title as one of his top aims.

Winning the league title considered a long shoot, for this campaign as a miracle can make things happen but in conclusion, this squad in order to make its first order of business is not falling in the relegations spots.

So far, the club has made its first moves in the offseason with netting goalkeeper Peter Cherrie- Cork City, defenders Ciaran Coll- Finn Harps, Ally Gilchrist- Shamrock Rovers, Patrick McLean- Sligo Rovers, Ciaron Harkin from Coleraine and the recent arrival of David Parkland- Sheffield United.

Adding the likes of Josh Kerr from Brighton and Hove Albion defender to their January camp and possibly coming to these parts of Foyleside, if he stays in the squad, for sure he will add more depth to its defensive game.

So far, these players brought to reinforce and give a boost in an area of much need for the Candystripes were the likes of Jamie McDonough an attacking midfielders from Sligo Rovers and  Greg Sloggett from UCD.

In the end, this this is not over for Derry City in netting more players to reinforce its ranks and put on a fight in this upcoming edition in the League of Ireland as for manager Devine to build an armada of a squad.

In spite of netting some important players in the offseason, the number of players targeted by their man in the helm of around of fifteen will be among one of his feats before the start of this campaign and looking forward to a positive campaign.

The idea of this newly built Derry City is to return to its old winning ways as well bring back those memorable afternoons in Brandywell with its amazing football lost and under their new Boss his aims are bring to back that vibrant and full of energy game.

Forget 2018 and that lone shield as a consolation for a prize as the Red and White Army front office is looking forward to new horizons as well getting back their squad to its old winning ways under manager Declan Devine.

In the end, Derry City can make a lot of improvement in its game and with new players the aim for manager Devine will be to see an all-around unity in the field, still my forecast a fifth place finish.
